# The General Overseer of LoveBreeds Christian Ministries Incorporation, Bishop Charles Uchenna, has commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for what he described as remarkable achievements during his first term in office.

Bishop Uchenna, who is also the General Secretary, Pentecostal Bishops Association Anambra State Incorporation, noted that when the Governor assumed office, many people were uncertain about how far his administration would go, but expressed satisfaction that the Governor had exceeded expectations through visible development projects across the state.

According to the cleric, the Soludo administration has distinguished itself, particularly in the area of road infrastructure.

He observed that available reports and assessments have rated the Governor highly, stressing that the scale of road construction and rehabilitation carried out across the state surpasses what some previous administrations achieved.

# Barely a week after workers in the state civil service had their February salaries gruesomely slashed by the state government over unnecessary absenteeism from duty, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) have also sacked some community revenue collectors over their inability to pass a strategic tax collection examination.

The forcefully retrenched workers who are currently plotting a peaceful protest to frustrate Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s second term inauguration ceremony on March 17th this year, told journalists at a press conference that the decision to sack them for failing to scale through in an examination was totally unacceptable and contrary to the new tax law which made provisions for Revenue Houses across the federation to operate autonomously especially as it concerns training and retraining of staff members without undue external interferences.

Although conveners of the press conference pleaded anonymity for fear of further victimisation, they maintained that their planned protest will take place at the famous Aroma Junction Awka which leads to Alex Ekwueme Square, venue of Governor Soludo’s swearing-in ceremony.

# There was excitement at Cana House in Awka, Anambra State capital, recently when the 326 recipients of the Senator Victor Umeh Scholarship Awards started getting credit alerts for their school fees and other sundry expenses.

The recipients sat side by side in the hall with their relatives, parents, guardians – who also did not hide their joy.

Beneficiaries of the scholarship package were largely students of Anambra origin who are in various tertiary institutions across the country. There were also a few other beneficiaries who hail from other states including Enugu and Imo.

Umeh, who recently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, said that the scholarship award was in fulfilment of his promise to invest in the future of the young people in the senatorial zone by funding their education at the tertiary level.

# The Chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Enugu Depot Community, Mr. Chinedu Anyaso, has formally declared his intention to contest for the seat of Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in Anambra.

Anyaso, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) made the declaration in his home, Ekwulummili Community, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra.

Anyaso announced his intention in the presence of the leadership and stakeholders of APGA in Ekwulummili Ward.

He said he was motivated to enter the contest by the desire to complement the effort of the APGA led government in Anambra with effective representation at the National Assembly.

# The lawmaker representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo attends Chinua Achebe International Secondary School, Ogidi Inter-House Sports, Donates ₦500,000

Okonkwo, attended the Inter-House Sports competition of Chinua Achebe International Secondary School, Ogidi, to support and encourage the students.

Speaking at the event, Okonkwo emphasized that, as a member of the House Committee on Sports, he has consistently invested in sports development across Idemili.

According to the lawmaker, his initiatives include the sponsorship of the Idemili League 2025, with a grand prize of ₦6 million for the winners, as well as support for several community football competitions within the constituency.

# The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Anambra Women Wing, held its 2026 Women Summit at the party’s regional headquarters in Awka, aligning with International Women’s Day observances.

The gathering, themed “Empower Her, Elevate All”, assembled leading women figures, elected officials, and community stakeholders to push for women’s economic independence, political visibility, and family balance.

The summit was put together by the APGA State Woman Leader, Mrs. Esther Onyekesi, and drew a strong turnout that included Dr. (Mrs.) Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State Governor; Mrs. Ibezim, wife of the Deputy Governor; Senator Emma Nwachukwu (Anambra South); Hon. Paschal Agbodike (Ihiala Federal Constituency); Hon. Mimi Azikiwe (Onitsha South State Constituency);Mr. Chinedu Oli; and several other APGA leaders and lawmakers.

Dr. (Mrs.) Nonye Soludo, delivering one of the keynote addresses, used the occasion to announce plans for a large-scale women’s empowerment initiative across Anambra State.

She urged women to actively acquire marketable skills and embrace entrepreneurship, while stressing that financial progress should never come at the expense of a stable and peaceful home.

# The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command, has secured the conviction of 35 traffic offenders during a Mobile Court sitting held at the Sector Command Headquarters in Awka.

The exercise forms part of the Corps’ sustained enforcement strategy aimed at reducing road traffic crashes through strict compliance with traffic regulations and enhanced operational visibility across the State.

The Mobile Court session was presided over by Her Worship, Chief Magistrate Adaora N. Okoli, who heard cases involving offenders apprehended during special enforcement operations carried out by FRSC personnel within the Command’s operational corridors.

At the end of the proceedings, 44 offenders were arraigned before the court, of which 35 were convicted, while 9 were discharged and acquitted.

A total of 72 traffic offences were recorded against the offenders, while no offender was sentenced to imprisonment.

The offences prosecuted included Seatbelt Violation (SUV), Speed Limit Device Violation (SLD), driver’s licence violation (DLV), Overloading (OVL), Tyre Violation (TYY), Vehicle Licence Violation (VLV), Number Plate Violation (NPV), and other related traffic offences.

Speaking during the court session, Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, reaffirmed the commitment of FRSC to the strict enforcement of traffic laws and the prosecution of offenders as a deterrent against reckless driving and other violations that endanger lives on Nigerian roads.

# The lawmaker representing Ekwusigo Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir. Ikenna Ofodeme said he will continue to provide a transparent update on the Ichi General Hospital which has not been functional for the past two decades.

Hon. Ofodeme who is the Majority Leader of the Anambra Assembly, led a delegation of journalists to the hospital site, commended the community’s intervention efforts.

According to the lawmaker, the hospital is currently not functional, but they are not sitting idly by, stewasing that following the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of shared responsibility. He maintained that
Ichi community is taking the lead to ensure thay the facility becomes a center of excellence once again.

Hon. Ofodeme assured Ekwusigo
constituents that he is working closely with the State Ministry of Health to ensure that the infrastructure is ready, as the proposal has been shared with the state government.

The Majority Leader praised the “Think Home” philosophy of the Ichi people, noting that the ongoing roadwork is a testament to the power of community-driven development.
