# Governor Chukwuma Soludo attended the wedding reception of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Udeh Kenechukwu, a distinguished commander within the Governor’s security apparatus.

The event, held in Awka in a festive atmosphere, drew a significant gathering of officials, security brass, and well-wishers who came to support the police officer on his nuptials.

During the reception, Governor Soludo took the opportunity to commend the groom for his dedication to duty and his contributions to the peace and stability of Anambra State, noting that the commitment shown by officers like DSP Kenechukwu is vital to the success of his administration’s security agenda.

While offering his congratulations to the newlywed couple, the Governor emphasized the importance of a stable home life as a foundation for effective public service and encouraged the couple to build their marriage on the values of patience, mutual respect, and shared goals.

 

# Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONet), a foremost citizen advocacy group, has congratulate Gov. Chukwuma Soludo on the transmission of the first batch of commissioner nominees to the Anambra State House of Assembly.

The group also Congratulated the nominees on this important opportunity to serve Ndi Anambra.

ACSONet particularly appreciates the reappointment of Dr. Afam Obidike for Health and Prof. Offornze Amucheazi, SAN for Lands.

# A senatorial hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, for Anambra North Zone, Chief Primus Odili, has debunked claims in some quarters that the Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has a favourite candidate that he has drafted into the senatorial race.

Responding to a question about reports that a member of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s kitchen cabinet had been drafted into the Anambra North Senatorial contest, Odili, who stressed that he had been a loyal party man even after failing to secure the ticket of the party in the last election, dismissed the claim as false and unfounded, insisting that all aspirants expressed their interests in various offices on their own volition and no one was personally drafted by anyone.

# The Anambra State Football Association has been named Best State Football Association by the Nigeria National League (NNL) following the conclusion of the Super 4 tournament held in Ikenne, Ogun State on Friday.

Micheal Mbaezu received the award on behalf of the Anambra Football Association Chairman, Chikelue Iloenyosi.

Speaking on the award, Iloenyosi expressed delight at the recognition and dedicated the award to Ichie Akubudike na Umudioka, Chief Jim Martin Nwabueze Agubuzo, acknowledging his support and influence.

The former Super Eagles defender also reiterated his commitment to improving football in the state, pledging to sustain efforts aimed at grassroots development and administrative excellence.

# For Peter Obi, Presidential aspirant on the platform of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, investing in the education of the young ones is of far greater importance than his being the President of Nigeria.

Obi, who stated this during a visit to the University on the Niger, UniNiger, Umunya, Anambra State, where he donated N25 million to aid the progress of the school, said public life was not about office or winning votes but about investing in humanity.

Obi who was responding to a question on why he chose to spend money on schools and hospitals rather than save same for the prosecution of his Presidential aspiration, said what he was doing was more important than winning election, noting that at the end of the day, everyone would go with nothing, having come with nothing.

He expressed happiness that in most places he went to these days, he saw young people telling him how they benefitted from his investment in education when they were in the secondary school.

# Chief Ebuka Onunkwo has officially joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and is participating in the party’s national convention currently underway in Abuja.

Chief Onunkwo said the move reflects his commitment to honour the promise he made to his teeming supporters: to be on the ballot and represent their interests at the national level. He noted that the NDC provides a platform that aligns with grassroots aspirations and inclusive participation.

He pledged to focus on practical, people-centered representation for Anambra South, with an emphasis on economic opportunities, youth empowerment, and community development.

# Nnamdi Azikiwe University has ranked number 5 among the top 10 most sought after universities in the 2025 University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) by the Joint Admissions Matriculations Board (JAMB).

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed this recently, in Abuja during the 2026 Policy Meeting on admissions into tertiary institutions.

The figures show a strong concentration of applications in a few highly competitive institutions, reflecting their reputation, course offerings, and perceived admission advantages.

UNIZIK beat University of Ibadan (UI) with 47,571 as the 6th; while the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) made it to the 7th position with 46,273.

# The sixteen commissioner nominees sent to the state assembly by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for confirmation have all scaled through the screening process successfully with none disqualified or found wanting in any manner.

Chairman of the screening committee and Deputy Speaker of the 8th legislature, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye, told this journalist exclusively shortly after the final session that the two-day screening exercise was indeed very tasking, noting that the committee meticulously scrutinised the nominees to ascertain their suitability for their respective new offices.

Okoye stated that the commissioner nominees were persons of impeccable character and integrity, whom he believes will not fall short of expectations of the citizenry in their new assignments. He therefore described them as round pegs in round holes, adding that the governor did a thorough investigation in his selection.
