* Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo during his unannounced visit to some schools and subsequent interaction with the students, promised to pay the third term school fees for 2,350 students of Urban Girls Secondary School Fegge amidst chants of joy and jubilation. At Urban Boys Secondary School Fegge, the Governor assured of exploring the possibility of relocating the school before the end of the year because the current location was not conducive for a modern school environment.

* The Anambra State  Commissioner For Women  and Social Welfare, Mrs Ifeoma Obinabor, has  reiterated that there is no hiding place for child  traffickers in Anambra State. The Commissioner made this comment while receiving the State Director, National Orientation Agency,(NOA), Sir Joseph Uchendu and his Management team who paid her a courtesy call  and advocacy visit in her office at the Professor  Dora Akunyili Development Center, Awka recently. 

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has been commended for his one youth two skills entrepreneurship programme currently ongoing in the state. The Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Mr. Felix Ikechi gave the commendation while speaking in Awka recently. Ikechi, who extoled Governor Soludo’s innovative leadership style, said that the one youth two skills programme, among other numerous youth empowerment initiatives would go a long way in reducing unemployment in Anambra state.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji has appreciated St Joseph’s Parish of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka for the meritorious service award bestowed on him. Onyenji, who promised to continue to serve God and humanity for the good of the society, thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for finding him worthy to serve in his government and promised to continue to deliver on his mandate.

* Association of Community pharmacist of Nigeria, ACPN, Anambra State branch has decried the over taking of their practice by patent medicine dealers in the 2023 edition of their annual state conference in Awka, the state capital. This year’s edition was a two day program themed: From Crises to Preparedness, the Future of Community Practice in Anambra State.’

* The Anambra State government has reiterated that there is no hiding place for child traffickers in the state. Commissioner For Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ifeoma Obinabor while receiving the State Director, National Orientation Agency, (NOA), Sir Joseph Uchendu and his Management team who paid her a courtesy call and advocacy visit in her office observed that there are lots of undiscovered child manufacturing centers in various parts of Anambra State and astronomical increase on child trafficking in the State.

* The chairman, ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ Entrepreneurship Scheme, Prof. Chinedu Onyeizugbe, has lauded the master trainers and trainees in the ongoing skill acquisition initiative of the Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Youth Development in collaboration with Unizik Business School (UBS). Prof. Onyeizugbe gave the commendation during a monitoring exercise across some select Entrepreneurship Development Institutes (EDIs) in Anambra Central Senatorial District. 

* Nigerian Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, has inaugurated Anambra State Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (SEMSAS) in Awka. Speaking during the inauguration, the Minister said apart from the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Anambra was the first state to launch the emergency health system in the country. He noted that the project, if fully launched across the 36 states of the federation, as mapped out, would reduce mortality rate, also create job opportunities.

* The need to enhance citizen participation  for development was the crux of the three- day retreat for Councillors, Management team and Heads of Agencies in Anambra East Local Government Area, of Anambra State, Nigeria.

The retreat, which was held at Archbishop A. K. Obiefuna Retreat Center, Okpuno Awka was targeted at updating the leaders on the Council’s administrative agenda; the review of their work pattern; and to rekindle their spirit towards actualizing the set goals following the vision of Mr. Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

* Members of the visually impaired community have recorded a breakthrough with the new invention of ‘Smart Sticks’ by some students of Regina Pacis Secondary School, Onitsha. In 2018, the school’s students had won the Junior Gold Awards in the World Technovation Challenge in the United States of America by developing a mobile application called the Fake Drug (FD) detector to help tackle fake pharmaceutical products in Nigeria. Again, young ladies from the school have shone as innovators in robotics and coding, inventing smart sticks that can detect obstacles not less than 120 centimetres away from a blind person.
