* African Weaving Festival has conferred an award of the “Pillar of Cultural Excellence in Promoting Akwete Heritage” to Governor Charles Soludo for his unwavering dedication to promoting the Akwete indigenous fabrics.  Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, Mr. Don Onyenji expressed that Governor Soludo always demonstrates his avowed commitment to promoting the Nigerian economy through the patronage of made-in-Nigeria products and other local production which can ultimately salvage the economy and make Nigerians richer and happier. 

* The Deputy Chief of Staff who doubled as Chief Protocol and Chairman of All Soludo Support Groups (ASSG), Chief Sir. Chinedu Nwoye alongside Managing Director Of ASWAMA, Engr. Mike Ozoemena and APGA Chieftain, Hon. Obi Ochije Modilim flagged -off free distribution of farm Inputs to farmers in idemili south secretariat, Ojoto. Speaking during the flagged off, Nwoye said, the focus of Governor Soludo’s administration centres on agricultural revolution and in the hierarchy of man’s need, food is ranked first and it explained why Governor Soludo had been sharing all the seeds to the people in the state. 

* Police Operatives has intercepted a shuttle bus, and recovered two 50KG bags containing four cartons of one hundred and seventy pieces live cartridges. 

According to a statement by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, the operatives laid ambush on the receipt of Information along Portharcourt Road Fegge, Onitsha, the convener on sighting the Police took to his heels before the driver was arrested. The driver is currently undergoing interrogation to guide the investigation. 

* The Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed worry over unwholesome practices carried out by a company exploring crude oil and gas at Ogwuikpele community in Ogbaru local government area of the state. The House called on the Executive Arm of Government to formally forward a petition to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission outlining the company’s non-compliance with various aspects of the Petroleum Industry Act. This followed a report submitted by the Committee on Petroleum and Mineral Resources which was presented on the floor of the House during plenary.

* Police operatives along Creek Road, Fegge arrested one Mr Kingsley Orji of Okwudo village, Mgbidi, Imo State, and recovered a stolen Lexus RX350 with Reg nos: YAB 912 HR. The vehicle was reported to have been snatched at gunpoint by six armed men along Love Line assembly, Imo State. The suspect confessed to the crime and has made useful information that is assisting in apprehending other gang members. The Commissioner of Police Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam charged the operatives to sustain the onslaught operation aimed to deny criminal elements the space they enjoy in the State and assured ndi Anambra the Command’s commitment and utmost confidentiality on every information provided and shall be acted upon.

* Activities in the ongoing Anambra Sports Solution Initiative (ANSSI) festival for primary and secondary schools in Anambra have been concluded at the  Community and  Local Government Area stages. The festival which started on May 3 at the community level is featuring 12 events including Athletics, Basketball, Chess, Football, Scrabble, Swimming, Table tennis, Tennis,  Taekwondo, Volleybal, Cricket and Ncho in U-12, U-14 and U-18 categories. The Community and Local Government eliminations were for team events.

* The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), has inaugurated a Technical Working Group (TWG) comprising of key stakeholders on health to plan and develop a Strategic Health Development Plan that will last from 2024 to 2029. The two day workshop took place at IDK learning Centre in Awka.

Declaring the event open, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike explained the importance of the TWG to think through on how to expand the health insurance coverage of the state particularly the informal sector and how to implement the mandatoriness of the scheme through innovative strategies of businesses providing evidence of health insurance certification before they can operate.

* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has led other women through intense workout sessions in a bid to get them to understand the benefits of physical fitness and healthy lifestyle. The exercise, which took place at the Governor’s Lodge, Awawbia, was attended by female government functionaries, including commissioners, heads of parastatals and agencies, and wives of government appointees, among others.

The workout session, which is part of Mrs Soludo’s daily routine, took about an hour and involved several intense techniques and mild aerobics. 

* The Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has activated onslaught operations on the abductors of Fr. Basil Gbuzuo and Prof. Sydney Onyeagu of Unizik after their release unhurt by the kidnappers. The CP assures that the Command is in high spirits and already leveraging on information in this regard especially to frustrate criminal intentions of nonstate actors and reduce crime to the barest minimum in the State. 

* Anambra State government has inaugurated a special task force to drive the implementation of the food security and nutrition analysis technically known Cadre Harmonise in the state. The inauguration which took place in Awka follows the decision of the Federal Government through the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to expand the analysis to the rest of the country after a successful implementation in 26 states. The Cadre Harmonise (CH ) is an early warning tool developed upon request of Food and Nutrition Insecurity (FNI) stakeholders, governments, International, Local, non-governmental organisations and civil society groups and members partners in the Food Crisis Prevention Network RPCA used for prevention and management of food and nutrition insecurity.
