* The Transition Chairman Idemili South LGA of Anambra state, Hon. Amaka Obi says the council authority is creating a sustainable council area for the people especially as it concerns rural development. Obi who disclosed this in Awka recently, said her administration has graded roads, provided medical care for pregnant women, empowered the people as well as carried out life-changing programs intended to ameliorate the living conditions of Ndi Idemili South.

* The MD/CEO of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, says Gov. Chukwuma Soludo is in a hurry to attain universal health coverage in the state. Onyemaechi disclosed this when he held a meeting with Anambra town announcers in the Head office of the agency in Awka. Addressing the town announcers, Onyemaechi said that they had already registered one hundred and eighty-three thousand people into the scheme, noting that Soludo had given them a mandate to quickly ramp up the ASHIA beneficiaries.

*A sports enthusiast and teacher, Prof Chidi Okoro believes that good partnership between football Academies and schools will help get the talents early. According to Okoro, “We seem to have the ‘raw’ talent but don’t put in the effort to harness them. And as the saying goes, talent is not enough. Our public and private sector ‘leaders’ don’t seem to appreciate what we can accomplish by providing the environment for sports to thrive and become one of our platforms for development.

* The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has urged the Catholic faithful to desist from neo-paganism, as such did not affirm their belief and faith in one God.

Ezeokafor made this exhortation in his homily, while on a pastoral visit to St Pater’s Catholic Church, Nri. He stated that as Christ died for man’s salvation, Christians must believe in God at all times despite the consequences or challenges which depict Christ’s suffering, death and resurrection. The Bishop warned against being Christian when it was convenient and pagan at the onset of challenges, noting that such did not make one a good Christian.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Hon. Ify Obinabo says her most cherished moment as a commissioner is when she see people, especially rapists, taken to court. “Seeing justice being served for victims of rights infringements gives me joy. I don’t push any matter aside. When a matter pops up, I see it to its logical conclusion. We have many cases in court and I know we have up to five judgments. Most of the culprits are in jail cooling off”.

* The president of Akwa Ibom community in Anambra State,  Akparawa Edet Solomon has admonished the Akwa Ibom State Students at Federal Polytechnic Oko to remain law abiding and security conscious in face of the security challenges being faced presently throughout the country. Solomon gave this charge during the Oko Poly Chapter of the National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students 2023 cultural day celebration at the convocation arena of the institution. 

* The embattled unidentified armed hoodlums, popularly known as Unknown Gunmen, terrorizing Anambra State and its residents, have resurfaced with fresh warnings and declaration.

The warnings and the declaration are those of sit-at-home in many communities across the state, most especially communities in Nnewi South LGA and its environs. ANN gathered that heavily-armed men stormed the Eke Ọsụ Market in Osumenyi and some other daily markets in Nnewi South with handbills, posters and other leaflets, which they distributed to the people, warning them to stay tightly indoors from Monday, May 8, to Thursday, May 11, 2023, as there will be total lockdown in the entire Igbo land on those days.

* A multi-millionaire and philanthropist based in Lagos, Mr. Ikechukwu Simeon Ebelebe has been found dead two weeks after he was reportedly kidnapped by gunmen in his hometown, Owerre-Akokwa in Ideato-North Local Government Area of Imo State. His abductors killed him after collecting N10 million Naira ransom from his family. ANN gathered that his body was identified in a mortuary, where it was deposited after it was discovered by the police. The report said that his remains were found in a bush in Orumba South LGA, Anambra State. 

* The Vicar, in charged of Saint John’s Anglican Church, Nise in Awka  South LGA, Rev. Kingsley  Chukwukamma, has advised Nigerians to resist  any attempt by President Buhari to swear a manipulated government into power, come 29th May, 2023 to save the country from degenerating  into  anarchy. The Anglican  Clergy, who  gave  the advice during  a special  service  in the  Church, expressed the hope that  Buhari and his team may play some skirmishes and gimmicks against Nigerians with a view  to  swearing unconstitutional government into power.
