* The executive committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in Idemili South Local Government has been inaugurated at the secretariat in Ojoto. Also, the executives committees and contact and mobilization committees of the party in the twelve wards of the local government area have also been inaugurated. The new executive members took an oath of office and of allegiance to the party, the state and Federal Republic of Nigeria.
* The National Coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chinedu Obigwe, has said the 2021 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, Chief Valentine Ozigbo lied about why a chieftaincy title was not conferred on him in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state at the weekend. Obi said, “The organisers of the Chieftaincy title reached a consensus agreement at the dying minute that Ozigbo did not not deserve to be honoured by Anaocha traditional rulers.
* Anambra State House of Assembly committee on works has visited the on-going construction work at Onolibe Street, Awawbia in Awka South Local Government Area. Chairman House Committee on Works, Hon. Emma Nwafor and other members, as part of their constitutional responsibilities, visited the area to ascertain the progress of work. Hon Nwafor while speaking observed that the construction firm handling the project is working according to specifications and added that Onolibe street is a major link road from Amawbia by-passs.
* Mrs. Nonye Soludo, Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo has called for more attention to the needs of people with visual impairments. The First lady stated this while receiving a team from the Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA), and the Nigerian Association of the Blind, Anambra State Chapter at the Governor’s Lodge, Awawbia.The group was on a courtesy visit to the governor’s wife ahead of White Cane Campaign which is scheduled for October 14, 2023 to commemorate World Sight Day.
* The member representing Ayamelum Constituency at the Anambra state House of Assembly, Hon. Benard Udemezue has pledged to do his best to promote quality education and agriculture in the constituency. Udemezue made the pledge after offering scholarships to five students that scored highest marks in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ayamelum.
* The Transition Committee Chairman (TCC), Orumba North Local Government Area, Sir Ogochukwu Ekwueme has inaugurated a newly renovated Traditional Rulers Council building, donated Toyota hilux, bullet proof jackets, walkie talkies and other security gadgets to the vigilante group of the local government. Performing the inauguration ceremony at the Local Government Headquarters, Ajalli, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, described the achievement of the TC Chairman as a great feat and praised him for bringing dividends of democracy to the people of Orumba-North.
* A combined team of Private Security Operatives and Police have arrested and alleged serial criminal who has been vandalizing the Awka office of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The suspect, Sampson Ezugwu was arrested while vandalizing NAN office located close to Government House Awka
* The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi says the agency has registered over two hundred and twenty thousand people into the scheme. Onyemaechi disclosed this during the registration of new enrollees in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area, paid through the adoption model of the agency by one of their sons.
* The Anglican Church of Redemption, Awka (ACORA), Anambra State, kicks off 2023 edition of the ACORA Youths Sports and Cultural Festival kicked off in earnest. Organized by the ACORA Youth Board, the event which is in its second edition kind, commenced with a thrilling and captivating volleyball match between the Faith and Love families, and drew the participation of many dignitaries who came to witness the kick-off match and watch the vibrant ACORA youths display their amazing volleyball skills and dexterity.
