* 15 participants from Anambra State have won the MTN ICT and Business Skill Equipment Grant. The top participants totaling 315 will be supported with an equipment grant worth N90 million. Dr Nelson Omenugha, Special Adviser to the Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, on Youth Empowerment Programme, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. He commended the governor for launching Anambra digital tribe programme which he( Omenugha) said had stimulated integrated technologies trainings

* Anambra CP Aderemi Adeoye on his way to work this morning Tuesday 17th October sighted an accident scene and stopped to know what happened. The CP after consoling the other woman donated some cash to her and cautioned the tricycle driver to be more careful when driving. ANN gathered that during interview with the victim and the tricycle driver who hit the woman, reveals that the woman was about to cross the road before the accident happened. 

* Catholic faithfuls at Ihiala Community has been deprived of spiritual benefits of confession, baptism, Holy Communion, wedding, anointing of the sick, etc, for one year, and still counting. ANN gathered that the misunderstanding between the Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Most Rev Jonas-Benson Okoye, the Ihiala Catholic Community, and the Holy Ghost priests of St Martin of Tours Parish, Ihiala, has continued unresolved.

* Men of Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu of Anambra State Police Command on Monday 16th October, 2023 foiled a planned robbery operation along Ebenebe-Achalla Road in Awka North LGA of the State. ANN gathered that the operatives while on Anti Kidnapping Patrol were tipped off by a public spirited citizen who saw two gun men being conveyed on a motorcycle along the road.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has promised that the construction work going on at Ekwulobia roundabout will be completed in no distant time.

The Governor stated this at Saint Joseph Cathedral Church Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area while celebrating with Chief Dr Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, on his investiture as Papal Knight of Saint Gregory, and his sixty-nineth birthday celebration.

* All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA has been called to support the leadership of Prof Chukwuma Soludo as his government is with a clear vision to reposition the state. Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim made the call at the stakeholders meeting held at Nibo, Awka South Council Area. Deputy Governor Ibezim who is the Awka North and South APGA Leader reminded the stakeholders of the need to always enlighten the masses on the good works of Governor Soludo in Awka and Anambra in general, explaining that the Governor has people of Awka South at heart, evident in numerous appointments given to many Awka South sons and daughters, as well as his efforts towards transforming Awka into a real capital city.

* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for work to facilitate the construction of pedestrian bridge at total filing station junction ihiala town. Chief Whip and member representing Ihiala one constituency Hon. Jude Ngobili who was the chief sponsor of the motion revealed that one of the busiest bus stop on the Onitsha-Owerri road is located at the total filling station junction, Ihiala, town.

* The Anambra State Traders Sports Competition will kick off across the seven market zones in Anambra Wednesday, October 18. ANN gathered that the competition which will feature Football, Tennis, Table Tennis, Draft and Ncho is a great improvement over previous editions which used to be only football. The traders Sports Competition will give traders in Anambra markets the opportunity to showcase their sports skills on the field of play as well as improve their physical, and psychological well being.

* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on the Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Health to sensitize Ndi Anambra, through various media, community and religious leaders on the need to vaccinate their girl child against cervical cancer at the various Primary Healthcare Centres in the state.

The member representing Ayamelum constituency Hon. Bernard Udemezue who was the chief sponsor of the motion stated that

Cervical cancer kills an estimated 80,000 women in Africa on a yearly basis. According to Udemezue Cervical cancer, a type of cancer that develops in a woman’s cervix, is the fourth most common cancer among women globally.

* A Senior Magistrate in Anambra State Judiciary, Neni Division, Ifeyinwa Nasiah Okoye has made Anambra State proud as she was celebrated as a “Game Changer” in the Legal profession, in far away, Vienna, Austria. The Justitia Awards to the Magistrate is a cheering news to the State as she emerged tops on the global stage. She was one of the five shortlisted nominees for the Justitia Awards during the Women in Law conference held in September, 2023.
