# The Traditional Ruler of Awba Ofemili in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Ernest Mmaduagwuna, has described the Awba Ofemili, Ugbene, Ugbenu, Ebenebe and Amansea road as solid and durable, saying the community has not recorded any major defect on the road since its construction.
Igwe Mmaduagwuna gave the assessment while speaking on the condition of the road constructed by the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
The traditional ruler said the condition of the road contrasts with claims in some quarters that roads constructed by the present administration deteriorate within months of completion.
According to him, the Awba Ofemili section of the road remains in good condition, adding that he believes the project has the quality to last for many years.
He, however, called on the state government to extend the road beyond Awba Ofemili to connect the community with Anyamelum, saying such an extension would improve movement and open up the area to other parts of the country.
The traditional ruler said linking the road to Anyamelum and providing the needed bridge connection to Umulum would create a more direct route towards Nsukka and subsequently Abuja.
He noted that the distance from the area to Nsukka could be significantly reduced if the proposed connection was completed.
Igwe Mmaduagwuna said the community’s current priority was therefore not only the maintenance of the existing road but also further expansion of the road network to enhance connectivity and economic activities.
The monarch’s testimony provides a community level assessment of one of the major road projects undertaken by the Soludo administration in Awka North, amid ongoing public debate over the quality and durability of roads constructed across the state.
