* Prof. Chukwuma Soludo says the Anambra State local government election scheduled for September 28 is sacrosanct.
The Governor stated this while interacting with the candidates of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center, Awka.
The interactive meeting was also attended by Local Government and party chairmen, members of the State Working Committee (SWC) and members of the State Executive Council (SEC) in attendance.
Governor Soludo who is also the National Leader of the party, commended the party hierarchy for the hard work they have put in, saying that on election day, movement will be restricted and encouraged ndị Anambra to come out and exercise their franchise.
* The Joint Security Forces comprising of the Police, Army, Navy, Civil Defence and other Security Agencies recover five unexploded improvised explosives and are on the trail of arsonist and armed successionist group members.
Two of the Police Operatives on duty during the gun battle in a bid to resist the assailants from causing more havoc, paid the supreme price. Their bodies have been recovered and taken to the morgue.
The hoodlums in the early hours of Monday 16th September 2024 attacked the Umunze Police Station.

Anambra State Command, the suspected armed group invaded the Police facility with improvised explosives, shooting sporadically and fire caught part of the Station.
* In a show of solidarity and support, Comrade Peter Nwosu and his APGA apostles have adopted Hon. Echezona Anazodo as their candidate for the Nnewi North LGA chairmanship election.
At a ceremony held in Nnewi, Nwosu praised Anazodo’s leadership qualities and vision for Nnewi North, saying:
“We believe in Hon Anazodo’s ability to deliver good governance and development to our local government. He has our full support.”
Nwosu and his group donated N500,000 to Hon Anazodo’s campaign team to assist it’s logistics and pledges to continue to support his ambition.
* Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has congratulated all Muslim brothers and sisters in Anambra State and across Nigeria as they celebrate this year’s Eid el Maulud festival.
In his goodwill message, signed by Mr.
Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the Governor, Soludo described Eid el Maulud as a significant occasion that marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and serves as a reminder of his exemplary life, teachings, and the virtues of Islam which are peace, love, and brotherhood.
Soludo urged all Muslim Ummah to reflect on the Prophet’s message of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
* Onitsha Business school (OBS) in collaboration with European Global School University Paris has marked its 10th year anniversary and 3rd convocation ceremony amid jubilation as the School churned out seven new holders of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees and eight Masters of Business Administration (MBAs).
The anniversary and convocation which took place at the school premises in GRA also graduated two in Business Administrstion (BA) while fifteen students got proficiency certificates in various professional disciplines with five students graduating in Strategic Management and ten students in Export Business.
In his speech, the Director- General
of the School, Prof. Segun Sogbesan, said many doubted them when they embarked on the journey to start the School in 2014.
Explaining that they faced a lot of challenges, sentiments and public apathy, he said that through sheer determination, commitment and strategic vision and guided by God’s grace they have come this far to achieve what many thought was impossible.
* Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC says no political party or candidate is a favourite ahead of the September 28 local government election.
Chairman of the Commission, Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe made the statement
while charging ndi Anambra not to fall for cheap propaganda ahead of September 28 local government election in the state.
The ANSIEC boss gave the charge on the last day of the Commission’s tour of Local Government Areas with a visit to Awka North and South, Dunukofia, Anaocha and Njikoka.
The tour were attend by a cross section of stakeholders from the local government areas drawn from political parties, candidates, religious leaders, representatives of the town unions and traditional institutions.
* The Anambra State Government has been urged to immediately disarm the Anambra Vigilant Group (AVG) operatives loyal to the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to prevent potential security breaches and maintain peace in the state.
In a statement issued in Awka, the state capital, the Anambra Security Network (ASN) warned that allowing these operatives to bear arms could lead to abuse and compromise state security.
The ASN’s call for disarming the vigilantes comes amidst concerns about the potential for violence and insecurity in the state, particularly in the wake of Senator Ubah’s demise.
The group emphasized that since the operatives are not paid a statutory monthly salary, they may be tempted to use their arms for criminal activities when starved of money, thereby compromising the security of the state.
* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has called on Nigerians to embrace love, unity and peaceful coexistence irrespective of their religious inclinations.
In his goodwill message signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Emma Madu, Rt. Hon. Udeze felicitating Muslims as they celebrate this year’s Eid-El-Maulud, enjoined Muslim leaders to always uphold those values and practices that will create harmony, growth and development of the country.
The Speaker who commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for providing an enabling environment for the Muslim community in the State to propagate their faith and also earn their living, charged them to join hands with the Governor to promote peace and security as well as generate maximum support for the Soludo administration.
* A business man and investor, Mr Tochukwu Nwokoye Nwosu, has dragged a police officer, Mr Ifeanyi Iburu, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) before the Anambra state High Court sitting in Awka over alleged unlawful arrest and detention.
Nwosu, in a fundamental rights enforcement procedure order whose originating motion on notice (Suit no. A/MISC. 392/2024) dated September 10th, 2024, and signed by F. S. Okafor (Esquire), showed that the plaintiff was arrested at his resident in Awka on September 4, 2024.
He was thereafter detained from 10:am to 10:pm same day in the cell of the Police Rapid Response Squad at Awkuzu, Oyi local government area, Anambra state.
* The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and other academic Dons have recommended the book, “Beyond Sycophancy” as a life manual for achieving success in life.
Beyond Sycophancy is an autobiography authored by the immediate past Managing Director of Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Sir Chido Obidiegwu.
The Governor represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi described Sir Chido as a multi-talented individual who has contributed immensely to the development of the state and enjoined everyone to avail themselves of a copy the book as it contains important guidelines for achieving greatness in life.
