*  Anambra State government has abolished payment of fees and all manner of indiscriminate levies in government-run public schools in the state. Governor Chukwuma Soludo stated this when he paid an impromptu visit to Premier Primary School, Obosi and Ado Girls Secondary School in Onitsha.

* The Anglican Bishop of Awka Diocese and Archbishop of Niger Province, Most Rev Dr. Alexander Ibezim, has described Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate, as someone whose paramount aspiration is to improve people’s lives for the betterment of society. He lauded Obi as a firm believer in the idea that investing in humanity, particularly through projects focused on healthcare and education, holds the power to catalyze transformative change within society.

* The President, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Anambra state chapter, Comrade Chikwelu Adigwe has applauded governor Chukwuma Soludo for abolishing all forms of payment by pupils and students in public schools in Anambra state.

Speaking to the press shortly after the Governor made the pronouncement. Comrade Adigwe described the idea as a welcome development, especially at a time like this many families are finding it difficult to feed well daily.

* Transition Committee Chairmen in Anambra State have felicitated the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze as he marks his first one hundred days in office, describing him as an outstanding parliamentarian. In a press release endorsed by the Chairman of all the Chairmen and Transition Committee Chairman of Ayamelum Local Government Area, Chief Livinus Onyenwe, the Transition Committee Chairmen lauded Rt. Hon. Udeze’s sterling leadership qualities, which they said have necessitated a lot of reforms in the Eight Assembly under his watch.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has admonished Team Anambra who are representing the state at

the on-going seventh edition of the annual National Youth Games (NYG) holding in Delta State from 20th to 30th September, 2023 to always respect and adhere to their coaches’ instructions so as to excel in their various events at the games. Soludo who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Chief Ernest Ezeajughi, reminded the contingent that they are ambassadors of the state at the annual games and therefore should make excellence their watchword while showcasing good character and discipline.

* Following the announcement made by Governor Chukwuma Soludo that pupils and students from primary 1 to 6, and JSS 1 to 3, in the State’s public schools will henceforth pay no tuition fees, the Transition Committee Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Hon. ChuksBrown Igboañua has said that the Governor’s gesture is a testament that he hears and listens to the heartbeats of Ndi Anambra.

Igboañua who noted that Ndi Anambra and other residents of the State have not had it so good in terms of good governance currently being enjoyed in the State, described Governor Soludo as a man that hears the cries of the poor and vulnerable in the society.

* The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has described as “enemies of the people”  persons sharing old video clips of burning of a commercial bus at Nanka and killing of soldiers at Umunze both of which happened last year during the dark days of insecurity.

Adeoye called on Ndi Anambra to disregard the videos and not help enemies of progress to share them.

* The Vice Chancellor (VC) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK Awka, Anambra State, Prof Charles Esimone says every professor is a potential VC but that the institution must followed the laid down procedures of National Universities Commission (NUC). Esimone in an interview with journalists speaks on sundry issues about university administration, advising those interested in succeeding him as Unizik Vice Chancellor not to politicize the contest.

* A joint enforcement team of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra; Ocha Brigade, apprehended over fourteen persons terrorising Onitsha and it environs. The suspects includes a drug syndicate using army camouflage to harass and permeate trouble and all form of criminality within Onitsha metropolis. Some of their members were arrested for forcefully extorting money from motorist and some innocent citizens. Others who were arrested confessed to stealing and snatching of phones and valuables from commuters, while also selling hard drugs and gathering intelligence for their counterparts.  

* The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Greg Ugochukwu  Ezeilo, as the substantive Chairman of Anambra Internal Revenue Service (AIRS). This was disclosed by the Governor during the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting.
