* The Transition Committee Chairman for Oyi Local Government Area, Mr Emma Nweke has described Governor Chukwuma Soludo as a man whose heart is flowing with milk of human kindness as he has fulfilled his promise of twelve-thousand-naira palliative to public workers in Anambra. Mr Nweke reacted on the heels of the payment as public servants all over the state were in jubilation as each of them received the twelve-thousand-naira alert.

According to Mr Nweke, the gesture goes a long way to show that the Governor is also feeling the pains the people are going through because of the fuel subsidy removal, a reason why he decided to cushion the effect even before the federal government.

* Anambra Stata House of Assembly has called on parents, religious institutions and town unions to emback on reorientation of youths, to embrace more the laudable program ‘one youth, two skills’ initiated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo and other formal and in-formal skill acquisition windows available in the state as a quicker way of creating jobs for citizens. Hon. Ejike Okechukwu who is the chief sponsor of the motion through order ten ‘rule fourty-four’ of the house, said Governor Chukwuma Soludo had initiated a laudable program ‘one youth, two skills’ aimed at empowering youths to be self employed. 

* Anambra State Committee On Exports have clamoured for huge investments in agricultural value chains in order to produce enough food for residents and to export abroad. The meeting which held at the Head Of Service’ Conference Room, Jerome Udorji State Secretariat, Awka was themed “Enhancing Global Feasibility Of Made-In-Anambra Products” and was powered by Anambra State Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

* The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Barrister Slyvester Ezeokenwa, has called for Igbo unity and a sense of purpose in the pursuit of their agenda in Nigeria. He emphasized the need for collective action and cooperation in tackling the challenges and issues affecting the Igbo Nation.

Barrister Ezeokenwa urged Ndi Igbo and groups to set aside their political and religious differences and work together towards a better future for the Igbo nation.

* Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo will  be providing free cervical cancer screening for female civil servants and public servants and wives of male civil servants and public servants in the state. The free cervical cancer screening to be carried out in collaboration with the World Health Organization, WHO office in Anambra State, will be held in the Head of Service Conference Room, Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka on Friday, September 29, 2023.

* Indigenes of Nneyi Umueri in Anambra-East Local Government Area of Anambra State have drawn the attention of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to the poor construction of Afia-Ama-Ogbu-Mgbede-Nneyi Road in the community. The road which they said was constructed shortly before the end  of Willie Obiano’s administration has started to develop cracks and potholes which could be described as death traps. 

* The House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal seating in Awka today dismissed petitions filed  by the YPP candidate, Hon Charles Obimma to disqualify the member representing Oyi Constituency, Hon Dr Sir Innocent Ojike as the APGA candidate. In a unanimous judgement delivered by the three man panel of judges, they argued that the petition is a pre election matter and that the tribunal lacks the power to entertain it; the panel described the petition as a fraudulent distraction to the court.

* Anambra assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the commissioner for environment, commandant Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra State (OCHA BRIGADE), Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) and MD Anambra Physical Planning Board, to enforce the construction of covered catchment pits by all landlord, developers and industries to control the  effect of flooding in the state. Majority leader Hon. Ikenna slyvester Ofodeme who is the chief sponsor of the motion, at plenary, stated that section twenty of the 1999 constitution of the federal Republic of Nigeria as amended stipulated that the protection and improvement of the environment is the fundamental objective of government.

* A miiddle-aged man has been rescued alive after allegedly setting ablaze his duplex apartment in Ezinifite, Okpuno in Awka South Local Government of Anambra State. The man, a dealer in building materials from Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, was said to have committed the arson over lingering depression following unresolved brawl with his wife and children. ANN gathered that the wife had connived with the children to seize the papers of the property, including one of the sons who reportedly fled with part of his wealth.
