Tunisia Becomes First African Nation Eliminated from 2026 FIFA World Cup

Japan produced a clinical display to crush Tunisia 4-0 in Group F at the 2026 World Cup on Sunday, eliminating the first African side from the tournament.

Daichi Kamada opened the scoring in the 4th minute, Ayase Ueda added a brace including a stunning strike, and Junya Ito completed the rout as Japan celebrated their participation in the tournament’s 1,000th match with a dominant victory.

Herve Renard, appointed just days earlier following Tunisia’s humiliating 5-1 opening loss, could not stem the defensive woes that have seen his team concede nine goals in two games.

“Renard was unable to mastermind the kind of result that earned him international recognition,” match reports noted, referencing his past successes with Morocco and Saudi Arabia.6104a

Japan’s intensity and organisation overwhelmed Tunisia, with every goal showcasing strong team play. Ueda’s second and Kaishu Sano’s late involvement sealed a comprehensive win.

The result leaves Japan level on points and goal difference with the Netherlands at the top of Group F, positioning them as potential dark horses, while Tunisia face the Netherlands in their final group game with little hope.
