The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has urged Nigerians to rededicate themselves to the principles that sustain equity, inclusiveness, unity and growth which are hallmarks of democracy, with total adherence to the rule of law for the peace and development of the country.
In his Democracy Day Message to Nigerians, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that democracy is strengthened not by creation of political offices and appointments, but by positive result in services, programmes and projects that impact the lives of the people meaningfully, stressing that democracy is not gifted but earned through the courage of citizens to ensuring justice and fairness.
The Speaker who enjoined the Federal Government to Immortalize those who contributed immensely to achieve democratic rule in the country, urged Nigerians to continue to nurture and enforce democracy as well as pay necessary tributes to Heroes of Democracy in the country especially the departed ones.
Rt. Hon. Udeze commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for upholding and advancing democracy in the State by running an all inclusive government where children, youth and aged ones are given the opportunity to participate in the affairs concerning them as well as enthroning peace unity, prosperity and development of the State.
He called on Nigerian leaders to always work towards the overall well-being of the masses both in policies and development actions.
