The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has congratulated the 21 newly sworn-in Local Government Area Mayors and their Deputies, as well as Councillors inaugurated across the state.
Udeze described the inauguration as a significant step in the state government’s efforts to deepen democracy, governance and development at the grassroots.
In a goodwill message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Emma Madu, the Speaker charged the newly inaugurated council officials to key into the Solution Agenda of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and domesticate the administration’s development programmes and initiatives in their respective council areas.
He urged them to recognise their proximity to rural dwellers and use their positions to renew the people’s confidence in the Soludo administration through hard work, accountability and effective service delivery.
Udeze also urged the Mayors, their Deputies and Councillors to remain committed representatives of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in their respective council areas and wards.
He called on them to embark on massive mobilisation of APGA supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that their efforts would be critical to sustaining the party’s dominance and performance in Anambra State.
The Speaker particularly expressed confidence in the ability of the newly inaugurated Mayor of Ogbaru Local Government Area, Chief Nnamdi Ifejika, his Deputy and the Councillors to deliver on their mandates.
He reminded them of Ogbaru’s strategic role in the development and governance of Anambra State, urging the new council leadership to demonstrate greater commitment to APGA and continued support for the Soludo administration.
Udeze also commended Governor Soludo for what he described as impressive efforts toward safeguarding lives and property through the state’s security architecture.
He, however, appealed to security personnel to further strengthen the Governor’s efforts by extending effective security operations to various local government areas across the state.
