Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday that Kyiv is prepared to observe a ceasefire with Russia while US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner hold talks in Moscow and the Ukrainian capital.
In his evening address, Zelensky outlined the terms of the proposed pause in hostilities.
“There will be no airstrikes on our part, and Russia must reciprocally ensure a ceasefire — without its own airstrikes — for the duration needed to conduct these talks,” he said.
The offer comes as the two American envoys are scheduled to visit both Moscow and Kyiv in an effort to advance diplomatic contacts between the warring sides.
