The United States has strongly condemned the killing of members of Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo’s family in Plateau State, describing the attack as horrific and expressing alarm over ongoing violence targeting Christian communities in Middle Belt.
In a statement, Washington extended deepest condolences to the victims’ families and called for urgent action to prevent further violence.
“The continued violence targeting Christian communities and other vulnerable populations in Nigeria’s Middle Belt is deeply alarming,” the statement said.
It added that perpetrators “must be held accountable” and stressed the need to “strengthen security and protect Christians and other vulnerable communities.”
The US referenced recent discussions with Nigerian officials, underscoring the importance of doing more to stop such acts.
“The United States remains committed to working with the Nigerian government and our partners to combat terrorism, counter violent extremism, and ensure that Christians and all Nigerians can live and practice their faith freely without fear of violence or persecution,” the statement concluded.

Plateau State has long been plagued by clashes between farming and herding communities, often taking on religious dimensions.
