* The joint security forces in the early hours of Friday rescued unhurt two remaining victims abducted during the attack on a US convoy along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. According to a release made available to newsmen by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, PPRO Anambra State Police Command, stated that operations were still ongoing and further details shall be communicated.

* In fulfilment of its commitment to the realisation of the home ownership dreams of Nigerian workers who are contributors to the National Housing Fund scheme, the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria has inaugurated 180 Housing Units in Anambra State. Located at Nkwele Ezunaka by Hillview Estate, the housing project was developed in collaboration with the Organised Labour.

* Stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress in Anambra state have appealed to Presidential elect, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that all slots given to Anambra are for members only. The stakeholders disclosed this in a communiqué issued at the end of the Stakeholders and Leaders meeting held in Awka.

* The Chairman of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Barrister Vincent Ezeaka, has expressed the Commission’s dedication to reforming the Local Government system in accordance with the vision of the current administration, aiming to achieve optimal productivity. Ezeaka made this statement in Awka while presenting participation certificates to the first batch of 500 Local Government workers who completed a two-week intensive Digital Literacy Training program organized by the Commission at the Integral Development Konsult Centre in Awka.

* The Senator representing Anambra Central, Sen Mrs Uche Ekwunife has reprimanded the Southeast Senators and House of Reps members including the Labour Party candidate elects in the last election for neglecting their presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi with his court case and focusing attention on who becomes the Senate president. Ekwunife made the remark at the 32nd Annual state Conference of the Association of Community Pharmacist of Nigeria, Anambra State branch with the Theme: “From Crisis to Preparedness: Future of Community Pharmacy Practice in Anambra state, in Awka.

* The management of Chike Okoli Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies has held a one-day reorientation and capacity building workshop for her members of staff at the COCES auditorium. The capacity building workshop was aimed at inundating staff members on the essence of enhancing service delivery, innovation, timeliness and commitment towards discharge of duty to align with COCES objectives and the ‘Project 200’ vision of the present administration under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone.

* An Onitsha based educationist and school proprietor, Nnabuenyi Jude Oniah has appealed to the incoming administration in the country to consider promoting research on vaccine production in the country as well as aggressive reactivation of all health facilities across the country. Oniah, proprietor, Akunne Oniah Group of Schools, Onitsha who spoke in Onitsha said that from the ugly experience of the Covid-19 the Federal Government should tackle the issue of vaccine research in research institutes and rehabilitate all the abandoned health facilities across the country.

* Over 150 adhoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, who worked in Anambra during the just concluded elections have protested non payment of their allowances. The visibly angry protesters who thronged the INEC Headquarters in Awka where seen carrying placards, called for the immediate release of their allowances.

* Driving straight to the newly built Anambra State Cargo/Passenger Airport through Umueri route which happens to be the shortest route to the airport in Anambra State was quite a disappointing experience according to a UN Global Diplomat and Anambra State born UK resident, Amb Ikenna Offor.

Expressing concern over the deplorable State of the road leading to the airport on his way back to UK through the newly built Anambra State Airport, Offor, a UN Eminent Peace Ambassador called on the authorities concerned not to abandon that important route to the airport.

* Former National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and state Chairmanship candidate of the party Bar. Ifeatu Obiokoye has lamented that the party lost over N100 million to litigations by members who perpetrated anti party activities during it’s governorship primary election. ANN recalls that during the gubernatorial primary election of the party in the state some members of the party led by Hon Chuma Umeorji went to court to challenge the candidacy of Gov Charles Soludo leading to litigations from the Federal High Court to the Supreme Court.
