* All Progressives Congress Candidate for Dunukofia State Constituency in the last general election, Hon. Cornel Ilokolobia has issued an ultimatum to Sen. Tony Nwoye to withdraw an uncouth statement accredited to him against Prince Engr. Arthur Eze in Abuja last week. Ilokolobia who is from the Ukpo community as Prince Eze and former Youth Leader of Dunukofia was reacting to Senator Nwoye who he said “causally referenced Prince Arthur Eze as a man from Ukpo in his speech at the Anambra Town Hall meeting in Abuja”.
* Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh says Blessed Wisdom Model School, Onitsha remains closed inspite of rumours flying around that the school has opened for school activities. Chumah-Udeh revealed this during an interview in her office in Awka. The Commissioner for Education explained that recently a two year old pupil of the school who left home hale and hearty got battered in school, her tongue severed, her hand broken with bones shooting out and uptill the time of this report, the management of the school has not told the ministry of education what exactly happened.
* Concerned Citizens of Uruokpala village , Egbema Ozubulu in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State have appealed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to include College Road Ozubulu in the state road construction programme to prevent loss of lives and property. The dilapidated road which is less than two kilometers begins from Umualisi village, Egbema Ozubulu, transverses Community Secondary School Ozubulu, to link Nnewi – Ozubulu – Okija Road .
* Ufuma community in Orumba North LGA of Anambra State have conducted town union elections which midwifed new executives of the town. ANN reports that the election produced Commodore Amobi Clement Offor as the newly elected President General and Comr. Nwafor Ikechukwu (Ikemba) as the newly elected General Secretary Ufuma Development Union.
* Umueri stakeholders in Anambra-East Local Government Area of Anambra State have extolled the community development strides of the President-General Amb. Chief John Chukwudi Metchie, whom they said fostered true peace and peaceful co-existence in the area. The stakeholders under the auspices of Umueri Elders Council, Umueri Liberation Forum and some other bodies in the community jointly endorsed the efforts of the President-General, saying that he is indeed a blessing to humanity having extended his philanthropy to Umueri community through the provision of social amenities.
* In line with the tree planting campaign of the Soludo administration, the Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi has inaugurated the exercise at the Board headquarters in Awka. The trees planted are coconut, seedlings of palm trees, guava, orange, step trees and African tulips among others. Performing the exercise, Dr. Nwadinobi extolled Governor Soludo’s progressive agenda for a clean, green, livable and sustainable environment to help curb erosion and foster an environment which will maintain a stable ecosystem.
* Jude Okechukwu Emecheta, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra State and an ardent supporter of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s government, has asked the Senator representing Anambra-North senatorial district in the 10th Senate, Sen. Tony Nwoye to desist from unnecessary grandstanding because he is no longer an SUG president. Emecheta who responded to an uncultured statement credited to Tony Nwoye during the town hall meeting Gov. Soludo held with Anambra Indigenes in Abuja recently; where the Senator allegedly boasted that they will fight Soludo and make sure he does not get second term, if he does not stop saying things about Peter Obi, said it is time Tony Nwoye grew up and understand that rather than waste his energy in unnecessary grandstanding and grandiloquence, he should team up with the likes of Victor Umeh and Ifeanyi Ubah to get the Federal Government to address erosion and other ecological problems in Anambra State.
* The need for all hands to be on deck to improve service delivery by primary health care centres in the state has been stressed. This formed the views of participants during a media briefing and meeting of Association of Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition, ACOMIN, Tuberculosis and Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS, NEPWHAN, network on COVID-19 Response, Resilient and Sustainable System for Health, held in Awka, the Anambra state capital.
* The proprietor of Best Aluminum, Chief Pius Nweke, has regained his freedom. Recalled that a Federal High Court, Awka presided over by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba had on 14th June 2023 sentenced Chief Pius Nweke to ten years imprisonment with an option of N30m fine for the offence of unlawful possession of a firearm and another three months imprisonment without option of finethe offence of unlawful possession of ammunition.
