* A retired pensioner, an indigene of Ochuche in Ogbaru LGA Dr. Stephen Akpati has made a passionate appeal to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to address some dilapidated roads challenges facing the residents in the council area. In a press statement in Awka Dr. Akpati listed some of the roads to include the dilapidated Atani- Ekwusigo- Ozubulu federal road, the Atani Ogbaru LGA headquarters road to Ossomala, the road before Power Mike station linking the Chicken sales market and beyond etc.
* A baby suspected to be a day old has been found dead at a market in Ndiakwu Otolo Nnewi community in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra state. President General of Ndiakwu Otolo Nnewi, Mr. Izuchukwu Nwanokwu, who confirmed the incidence, lamented and described the situation as unfortunate.
* Not fewer than hundred Nigeria artists are expected to participate in this year’s 2023 Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe’s Ofala Art Exhibition. The exhibition slated to take place in October is part of the activities to mark the Monarch’s 21st Ofala Festival Celebration. The Chairman of the Ofala Strategic Marketing and Communication sub-Committee, Chief Nnaemeka Maduegbunam, made this known at a press conference in Onitsha.
* Millennium Mission For Hope And Care International in collaboration with Global Health Action, a US based Non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on financial independence, education and health care for women and children as well as exposing the women on their rights and access health care services has held a one day program at Igwe Ositadinma Nwokedi’s Palace, Achalla, Awka North Council Area, Anambra state. Women at the empowerment and health care delivery program where urged to promote self hygiene and live healthy.
* Five passengers of a commercial bus have lost their lives dead in Anambra State, as a fully loaded container fell on a commercial bus. The fatal auto crash, involved ten persons, comprising three male adults and seven female adults. According to the Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, RC Margaret B. Onabe, five female adults died in the crash, two male adults and two female adults were sustained different degrees of injuries; while one male adult was rescued unhurt.
* The Anambra State Government has reassured its willingness and commitments to reviving the water sector by bringing lasting solutions to the water facilities in the State to enhance the provision of portable water for domestic uses to the citizens, making Anambra the water hub and smart mega State. This assurance was made known through the Anambra State Water Resources Management Office – Urban Water Supply Asset Holdings Corporation (ASUWAHC), led by the Managing Director, Mr. Ikeobi Ejiofor, during a scheduled on the spot impact assessment inspection at the water facility at Onitsha.
* Queens Convent, a missionary secondary school owned by the Anglican Diocese of Awka, Anambra State, has dismissed a report making round in some media platforms that a gateman impregnated three students in the college, describing it as malicious, pedestrian and denigrating. A report had claimed that three students of the Senior School (SS2) class, in the institution were put in mother’s way by a gateman working in the secondary school. The report also alleged that one of the girls impregnated almost committed suicide by attempting to jump down from the upstairs of the hostel if not that she was prevented by her colleagues and teachers.
* Chairman of Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka, has been honoured with Outstanding Professional Leadership Service Award by Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), Awka, Anambra State. The award was given to Ezeaka by the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences, during it 2nd International Conference/Alumni Coverage (HYBRID) of the Department.
* The President General (PG) of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Anambra State chapter, Chief Obi Chukwuemekalum has called on all the Igbos to always maintain Igbo language, dressing, values and traditions in order to promote culture. Chief Obi made the call during the inauguration of the new executive of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Anambra East chapter at the council hall, Otuocha. He adviced the traditional rulers to sensitize Igbo women on the need to dress decently in their various communities.
* The crux of the matter at the three-day scientific workshop on Infant and Young Child Feeding organised by the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) was the plight of nurses working in hospitals in Anambra State. It was a general concern that nurses were always the first to come to work and always the last to sign off from duty yet their salaries and working conditions are nothing to write home about.
