* Residents of Umuokpalanri village in Enugwu-ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area, have cause to celebrate as a philanthropist in the town,Mr. Obinna Anekwe kicks off a 1.5-kilometer road construction project in the area. The road construction, which connects to Mr. Anekwe’s residence will stretch from the old Onitsha-Awka road to Ring Road in Enugwu Ukwu. Mr. Anekwe, who hail from a neighboring village in Uruogbu but has a building in Umuokpalanri, initiated the project to alleviate the suffering caused by the deplorable condition of the road.

ANN reports that World Teachers” Day is commemorated on October 5 of every year to celebrate world’s oldest vocations, and remember those who are using the revered occupation to make the world a better place.
Mrs. Soludo who stated this in a statement explained that the vocation is esteemed because of the invaluable impacts that teachers have continued to make on the entire human generation.

* Governor Chukwuma Soludo had pardon the four principals suspended recently for flouting the free education policy of his administration that abolished collection of fees from Nursery to Junior schools. Soludo made the call during the
World Teachers’ Day celebration held at Anambra Teachers’ House, Awka.

* Wife of the governor of Anambra state, Mrs Nonye Soludo has led early morning workout sessions with participants in the Anambra Fashion Expo to herald the two-day show which holds in Awka tomorrow Friday, 6th October, and on Saturday 7th October, 2023. ANN reports that the Chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Mr Patrick Onyedum, the Convener of AFE, Ms. Adaora Soludo, as well as members of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, took part in the workouts. The workouts were meant to prepare the body and minds of those taking part in the fashion show, and to also announce Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo as one of the leading partners in the programme.
* Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has paid his last respects to Late Chief (Mrs) Winnie Uzoh-Ebeze, the mother of the Federal Minister for Women Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Uju Kennedy who passed on at the age of 87.
ANN reports that the funeral mass held in her honour took place at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka the state capital. In his tribute to the deceased, Governor Soludo described her as an accomplished and industrious daughter of the land.
* The people of Amagu village Nsugbe have restated their stand on engaging Mr Ifediora Mmabia to share the Ogbo Utu land belonging to the village to all qualified members of the village.
This was the unanimous decision of the village members after a meeting of the village held at the village square.

* Anambra State Commissioner for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Barrister Anthony Ifeanya, has charged professional bodies in Nigeria to prioritize the training and retraining of their members for professionalism. Barrister Ifeanya gave the charge when a delegation from the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Awka branch, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Jerome Udoji State Secretariat Awka.
* St. Paul University Awka has held its fourth convocation and lecture ceremony for her 383 graduands.The ceremony which was held at the University auditorium on friday had in attendance the Archibishop , Metropolitan and Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, Bishops, clergy, members of the academic community, captains of industry, politicians, traditional rulers, Mr. Peter Obi, students, staff and management of the university and others.
