Construction of septic tanks is very necessary, says Nwafor

The chairman House Committee on works, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Emmanuel Nwafor has urged the residents of Fegge and Ms Elems to construct septic tanks for their in-house waste.

The chairman said this when he oversighted the ongoing road project at Fegge through Ms Elems been handled by Machine limited on October 27.

‘The only problem we have here is in house water, we found out that alot of buildings here does not have septic tanks. Everybody directed their solid and liquid waste all to the drainage

‘We have talked with the residents in the area about allocating some areas to discharge their solid and liquid waste from the building

‘The environmental impact assessment is against that, one has to discharge their in house waste in septic tanks and soak aways, only the run off should come into the open drain to avoid people contaminating diseases

‘The standard of their drainage and they are up to standard. The concrete mix and Calibre of materials been used are perfect. The width of the road is equally good, we have about 10 meters’, Mr Emmanuel noted.

The contractor, Mr Dennis Iku said the road is 7.76metres and they are through with one side of the drain, due to some challenges we encountered there was a little delay but we hope to deliver at the right time.

The honourable members representing Ihiala 2 constituency, Mr Golden Iloh, Mr Patrick Udoba (Anambra West), Mr Ejike Okechukwu (Anaocha 2) were all present during the oversight.
