* Seven inmates at Medium Security Custodial Centre, Nnewi have regained freedom as Anambra State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, visited the facility in continuation of his jail delivery exercise, which is part of activities lined up for 2023/2024 legal year.
They include Okechukwu Okafor, Chidera Agu, Charles Chime, Oluchukwu Mmadu, Ifechukwu Mbaojiriude, Tochukwu Ndiogulu and Cyril Nwaolisa. Justice Anyachebelu equally granted bail and reviewed bail conditions of other inmates, and ordered that their trial continue at the regular court.
* Efforts from the Senator Tony Nwoye, the lawmaker representing Anambra-North at the National Assembly who had set up a committee to resolve the land matter between Nsugbe and Umueri is to no avail as no fewer than five persons (of Umueri community) have been hospitalized in the fresh land crisis that ensued in the early hours of Wednesday, 22nd November, 2023. ANN gathered that the said land crisis between Nneyi Umueri and Enugwu-Nsugbe which dates back to 1906 is said to have claimed more lives in the area with indigenes of Nneyi Umueri always being victims of circumstance each time the crisis occurred.
* A bill for a law to provide for the sum of 410,132, 225, 272 (Four hundred and ten billion, one hundrend and thirty-two million, two hundred and twenty-five thousand, two hundred and seventy-two naira) for services of the government of Anambra state of Nigeria for the year ending thirty first December, 2024 and for related purposes has been read for the second time at plenary. ANN reports that Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Jude Akpua while leading the debate stated that every government requires substantial funding for the smooth running of government. Hon. Akpua who is the member representing Njikoka two constituency maintained that the government of Anambra state requires a very huge amount of money to keep the administration running and that the budget is realistic.
* In spite of several warnings issued to some property owners in the Anambra state capital territory not to impede development processes with unregulated and uncertified building projects, the defaulting property owners rather than comply with government directives to stop work at their respective project sites, blatantly defied government orders as their projects met face to face with the law during enforcements.
Speaking in Awka, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Hon. Osita David Onuko, said his agency had issued warning notices to property owners whose building projects were obstructing development processes in the capital territory and that the defaulters were given ample time to remove the structures in the interest of public good but the defaulters paid deaf ears to the warnings.
* Anambra State House of Assembly has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Commissioner for Environment and MD Anambra State Waste Management Agency (ASWAMA) to as a matter of urgency enforce strict compliance With the provisions of the laws of the state as it affects the disposal of sewage from building and other waste across the state to protect the health and well-being of our State, preserve our natural resources, promole sustainable economic development and to avoid blockage of drainage channels especially in Onitsha and other densely populated areas.

in his submission stated that the improper disposal of sewage and other waste from buildings has become a significant concern for the health and well-being of our state especially in the densely populated areas like Onitsha.
* Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) has announced that the monthly enviromental sanitation exercise will hold throughout the state on Saturday November 25th 2023.
ANN reports that in a press statement made available to the public and signed by the Managing Director of ASWAMA, Mr Mike Ozoemena, states that the exercise will hold within the hours of 7am – 10am, and that no vehicular or human movement will be tolerated as offenders will be apprehended and prosecuted. The Statement further enjoins Transition Committee Chairmen of Local Government Areas to ensure proper mobilization and compliance in their areas.
* Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has paid his respects to the former State Governor, late Dr. Chinwoke Clement Mbadinuju (Odera), who passed away at the age of 77. Governor Soludo paid the eulogies when he attended the State Commendation Ceremony for Dr. Mbadinuju at the International Convention Centre in Awka. Governor Soludo recalled the challenges that Anambra faced during Dr. Mbadinuju’s tenure as Governor, including widespread insecurity and economic hardship. He praised his efforts to address these challenges, including the establishment of the state Vigilante services boys to combat crime.
