The Archdiocese of Onitsha, alumni, and students of Christ the King College, (CKC) Onitsha has celebrated the 90th anniversary of the school.
The epoch making event, which took place at the newly dedicated Chapel, kicked off with a holy mass presided over by the Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke.
In his homily centred on consecration, Archbishop of Onitsha Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke charged the congregation to live a life of godliness in order not to desecrate the chapel.
The Prelate admonished the students to always make use of the Chapel any time they want to connect or communicate with God while appreciating the alumni for their impact in the school.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo represented by the Executive Chairman, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi commended the church for complementing the effort of the state government in the education sector while congratulating the school on itS anniversary.
In their seperate speech former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi who is also an alumni of the school, the oldest alumni and only surviving member of class of 1945. Pa Albert Ndephe and Mr. Eugene Agbinson said they are happy to have given back to the school that built the foundation of their lives which propelled them to the positions they are today and prayed that the fame of the college will last forever.
ANN reports that dedication of the chapel, presentation of plague of gratitude and recognition to the Archbishop and some of the old boys, thanksgiving, cultural display, and entertainment featured at the event.
