Anambra Commissioner Sponsors Football Tournament, Dancing Competition

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Nando ward 3 has emerged victorious in a football tournament organized for all the ward branches of the party in Anambra East Local Government Area.

Angel Network News reports that Nando ward 3 defeated Nsugbe Ward 2 with two goals to nothing to lift the coveted prize.

The Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka, who sponsored the competition, expressed excitement at the turnout at the event, noting that it was important for members of APGA to come together and foster a sense of unity and camaraderie.

Engr Chukwuemeka stressed that the aim of the tournament was to move towards building a better society by focusing on shared interests, such as sports and recreation.

The finals which was kicked-off by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, took place at Otuocha Township Stadium, with a huge crowd of spectators and enthusiasts from various parts of the Council area.

The competition, which was aimed at fostering unity and building a strong bond among youths and APGA members, saw spirited performances from the teams as they showcased their skills, determination and commitment.

Speaking at the end of the football match, the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim commended Commissioner Chukwuemeka for replicating Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision for the sport sector at the grassroots.

Dr Ibezim, then, called on the youths in the state to eschew crime and criminality and key into the numerous youth development schemes of the present administration so as to be useful to themselves and the society at large.

In an interview, the APGA National Chairman, Barr. Ezeokenwa said that the competition ties to the agenda of Governor Soludo and the party and should be emulated by other government officials in the state.

A dance competition called “Itunyaka” also sponsored by Commissioner Chukwuemeka featured at the event.

It was fiercely contested but each game ended in a friendly atmosphere with the winners and losers exchanging pleasantries.

The winners of the football competition, Nando Ward 3 went home with a sum of N1, 000,000, while Nsugbe ward II who came second went home with N400, 000.

Meanwhile, Umuoba-Anam Ward one who took the third position went home with N200, 000.

The Winner of the “Itunyaka dance competition from Umueri went home with a brand new motorcycle, and different consolation prizes ranging from cash to assorted gifts were given to all participants.
