Anambra State House of Assembly at plenary, unanimously congratulate Governor Chukwuma Soludo on the massive and unprecedented infrastructural development achieved so far as he clocks two years in office.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that, sponsor of the motion Hon. Ejike Okechukwu in his submission stated that
on Sunday 17″ March, 2024, the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo will clock two years in office.
Hon. Okechukwu who is the member representing Anaocha two constituency
said that at inception, Mr. Governor promised ndi Anambra that the resources of the State should be strictly used for the development of the State.
Listing the achievements of Soludo in the last two years, Hon. Okechukwu revealed that the Governor has delivered the following and more to ndi Anambra;
“Constructing of over 400km of urban and rural roads across the state. Building of four new General Hospitals across the state. Employed 5000 teachers and deployed them to schools across the state, with 3000 more underway
“Employed 300 health workers for our hospitals and health centers, with 500 more underway. Increased Civil Servants salary by 10 percent. Distributed 1 million palms and coconut seedlings to households in Anambra State
” Initiated free Antenatal and Delivery for Pregnant Women in Anambra State. * Free Education for all Public School Students from Nursery 1 to JSS 3.
“Empowered 5000 Youths with multiple skills and 2 billion Naira Interest Free start-up grant.
“Initiated free Health Insurance for Keke riders and Commercial Bus Drivers. Tax exemption for petty traders and low level artisans. Construction of New Government House and Governors Lodge in Awka.
“Training of 20,000 youths on Digital Skills. Launched free Wi-Fi services in major locations in Awka. Restriction and provision of public water supply in Okpoko, Awka and Onitsha.
“Restoration of Security in 8 Local Governments hitherto under the control of criminals. Restoration of law and order in the Traditional Institutions and Town Unions.
“The Rt. Hon. Speaker, together with Honourable members have inspected about 141 km of these on-going roads constructions in the state and expressed satisfaction that the monies appropriated by this Honourable House are being effectively utilized.
“The Governor Professor Charles Soludo, achieved all these feats in the last two years without borrowing a kobo from any financial/lending institutions not withstanding that this Honourable House had given him approval to borrow N100 billion naira to be invested in bankable projects.
“With the pace Mr. Governor is moving in infrastructural development of the State, Anambra in no distant time will be competing with most developed cities of the world”. Hon. Okechukwu stated
Speaking in support of the motion, Hon. Augustine Ike (Nnewi North), Minority Leader Hon. Johnbosco Akaegbobi (Nnewi South two), Majority Leader Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme (Ekwusigo), Chief Whip
Hon. Jude Ngobili (Ihiala One), Hon. Tony Muobike (Aguata two), Hon. Anayo Okpalaeke (Aguata one), Hon. Patrick Okafor (Onitsha North two), Hon. Golden iloh (Ihiala two), Hon. Bernard Uderezue (Ayamelum), Hon. Frearick Ezenwa (Onitsha South one), Hon. Chucks Azotani (Dunukofia) and Hon. Obi Nweke (Anambra East) In their seperate submission, commended Soludo on his achievements.
According to the lawmakers “Soludo is a gift to ndi Anambra and no governor has done what he is doing on roads.
“Most governor give employment at the end of their tenue but Soludo employed five thousand teachers almost immediately he took over office.
” He is intreasted in giving the best for his people and is a blessing to the state.
“Soludo backs everything he is doing with laws which has reflected from the numerous executive bill that has been sent to the 8th assembly.
” As lawmakers, we will continue to support him and we urge him to continue to spread the dividends of democracy across Anambra.
” What he has achieved in two years, most governors could not achieve in 8 years. Indeed, he brought disruptive change.
” The introduction of One youth, two skills have reduced unemployment. Other governors need to come and know how he is doing it.
“Standard roads have been commissioned, employment given on merit and it shows that the governor is very organized and we pray that he maintains this tempo.
“He declared a state of emergency on roads and is keeping his campaign process as road construction is going on in all 21 local government areas.
“Soludo had a vision for ndi Anambra which is of liveable smart mega city and he has brought unpresidented development in Anambra State”.
The lawmaker commended soludo for given out two thousand laptops to head teachers, principals of secondary and primary schools recently, and also recalled all the awards won by Anambra state in the past two years.
Anambra Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze in his speech said he took out time to visit the construction sites, so as to have a personal comfirmation and that he was impressed.
Rt. Hon. Udeze while narrating his experience on the inspection, commended the quality of the roads who are to last for twenty years.
The Speaker who listed numerous achievement by Soludo’s administration, described him as a visionary leader.
According to Udeze, the 8th assembly will continue to make laws and resolutions that will assist the governor to achieve his mission and vision and that everybody will be part of the success story of Anambra.
