Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has urge cooperatives and active farmers to participate in government programs aimed at enhancing agriculture.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Rt. Hon. Udeze made the call during an interactive session with Ogbaru Divisional Cooperative Council, Association of Ogbaru Cooperative Societies, and Active Farmers held at Atani in Ogbaru Council Area.
Udeze while addressing the farmers, emphasized the importance of agricultural development in Ogbaru and urged them to participate actively in programmes aimed at enhancing agriculture despite the challenges posed by flooding in the area.
The Speaker highlighted the critical role of agriculture in driving economic development and resilience in the face of environmental challenges while it also provided opportunity for farmers to align their efforts towards achieving common goals and advancing agricultural agenda in Ogbaru.
Stressing the need for a concerted effort towards agriculture, the Speaker emphasized significant initiatives undertaken by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to promote agricultural growth in Ogbaru.
Udeze highlighted the urgency of prioritizing agriculture as a means of economic empowerment and food security and encouraged cooperatives and farmers to adopt innovative strategies and technologies to mitigate the impact of natural disasters on agricultural activities.
In response to concerns raised by participants regarding the vulnerability of agricultural lands to flooding, the Speaker assured them of the government’s commitment to implementing measures aimed at addressing the issues.
The Speaker reiterated the importance of collaboration between government agencies, cooperatives, and farmers to develop sustainable solutions to agricultural challenges in Ogbaru and commended the efforts of the cooperatives and farmers in Ogbaru, pledging continued support from the government to ensure the success and prosperity of the agricultural sector in the region.
