Professor Chukwuma Soludo has assured Umuoji community in Idemili North LGA that his administration will do everything necessary to bring justice to their slain President General (PG), late Chief Sly Onyima.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the Late Chief Onyima who was a member of Knight of Saint Christopher of the Anglican Diocese On the Niger was murdered in his hometown in February at the age of 57.
Soludo who spoke through the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, during the burial service in honour of the Late Chief Onyima at Saint Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, thanked Umuoji people and the Onyima family for maintaining law and order and urged them not to lose hope but continue to believe in God.
Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Sir Paul Nwosu described late Chief Onyima as a peaceful and hard-working President General who transformed his community within the shorttime he led his community.
Delivering a sermon at the funeral service, the Bishop on the Niger, Right Rev. Owen Nwokolo, represented by Venerable Ikechukwu Ihentuge who spoke on the topic,”The game of Life will soon be over”, said that once one is dead, their investments, wealth, knowledge, cares, and greediness will also be over, and urged the faithful to always use their God-given talent to work for the betterment of the society while they are alive as Late Chief Onyima did for his community.
He described him as a very kind, compassionate lovely and prayerful man who worked tirelessly for the progress of his family, town and the state.
In their separate interviews, the immediate elder brother of deceased, Chief Festus Onyima; his cousin and former Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Tony Onyima and the First Vice President, Umuoji Improvement Union, Chief lfeanyi Muoemenam said the life of Late Chief Onyima was short but impactful and thanked the state government for its assistance and efforts to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book, and prayed for his peaceful repose.
In his comment, the Regent of Umuoji, Chief Christopher Nnedu said the late Chief Onyima’s life was characterized by charity, sincerity, love, openness while urging the family and Umuoji people to emulate his footsteps.
Speaking in an interview, the President General of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, Barr. Titus Akpudo said the late Chief Onyima was a man of ideas and innovations.
