* The people of Uke in Idemili North Local Government Area have expressed satisfaction with Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the construction of some important road projects in the community.

The Uke community expressed their gratitude when the traditional ruler, Igwe Charles Agbala, accompanied by members of his cabinet, the Uke Town Union executive led by President-General Chief Peter Onyejegbu, and other stakeholders, inspected the road projects.

They described the completion of Uke Mmili Obiaja bridge as a huge relief for the people of the area, who had suffered greatly due to the previously poor condition of the road, which had been a long-standing nightmare for the inhabitants until Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s intervention.

* Peaceful protest and demonstration rocked Awka, the capital city of Anambra State, as members of the Igala Community living in the State expressed their grievances and displeasure over the gruesome murder of one of their members, Augustine Kulubi, a 20-year-old commercial Keke driver. Kulubi, a native of Orunu Village, in Igala-Mela Odulu Local Government Area of Kogi State, was reportedly murdered by yet to be dentified hoodlums in a bush in Urum community, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State. He was said to be resident in Mgbakwu (also in Awka North Local Government Area) from where he was going to work as a Keke driver, to make ends meet, being the breadwinner of the family and his parents who live in Kogi State.

* Students from public secondary schools in Anambra State, who scored above three hundred in the recent Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB Examinations, have been asked to go to the headquarters of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, in Awka for a reward. The Commission through Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu stated this at a forum at Ifite-Ogwari in Ayamelum local government area, Anambra State. Prof. Ikediugwu explained that the reward is to encourage Anambra students to put in more effort in their studies. She also revealed that in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination, schools will be graded and called on Principals and teachers to be alive to their duties.

* The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered an immediate investigation into the lifeless body of a baby found on Sunday in a sack at a refuse dump along Ifite Road, Awka.

Preliminary investigations reveal the child should be a day old and was abandoned by yet unidentified woman suspected to be the mother. Meanwhile, the body has been recovered and the Police are currently working with some eyewitness information at the scene for possible arrest of the perpetrator. The CP decries moral decay in society and describes the act as ungodly, barbaric, and inhuman. 

* Following the Federal Government’s recent declaration that the planned strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress is illegal and premature, the Anambra State Police Command reiterates the command’s commitment to enforce the legal recommendations and calls for caution to prevent a breach of public safety and peace. The Command understands the right of organized labour to engage in such actions to advocate for the interests of all workers, noted the importance of adherence to the existing laws governing such activities; and deployed Police Operatives to different strategic areas, tasked with the responsibility against any miscreants using the opportunity to cause any breach of public safety and peace in the State. 

* The Anambra State Government has addressed the recent tragic accident involving multiple vehicles at Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area. While extending sympathies to the families affected by this unfortunate incident, the state government denied the involvement of its revenue officials in activities leading to it. In a statement signed by Mr. Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to Anambra State Governor stated that certain individuals are spreading false information, claiming that the accident was caused by the operations of Anambra State government revenue officials.

* Anambra governor’s wife, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has re-assured ndi Anambra that her husband, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, is working round the clock to take the state to a level of global reference. Mrs Soludo, who stated this while addressing members of Soludo Women’s Movement, Awka North Chapter at Mgbakwu, explained that Governor Soludo came prepared and had his blueprint clearly drawn before coming to Anambra politics. She noted that despite the current milestones of the present administration in the state, her husband is not resting on his oars but is working every minute to give Ndi Anambra nothing short of excellence.

* Umunnachi Community in Dunukofia LGA of Anambra State at the weekend honoured her illustrious daughter and Super Falcons Star, Rita Chikwelu. The honour for the Saudi based Women’s Premier League star who plays for Al Shabab was in the form of a novelty football match between Umunnachi All Stars versus Rita Chikwelu and Friends.

The novelty match played at the Central School pitch Umunnachi saw Rita Chikwelu and Friends seeing off Umunnachi All Stars by 3 goals to 2 with the celebrant scoring a brace while Super Falcons player Osinachi Ohale was also on the score sheet.

* The Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, (ANPHCDA), is excited to partner with non-governmental organizations in its bid to improve maternal and child health care delivery services in the area. The Executive Secretary of the agency, Chisom Uchem, disclosed this while receiving three NGOs (the Justice Development and Peace Carits (JDPC), Nnewi, the Civil Rights Concern, (CRC) and the Community Empowerment Network, COMEN, on an advocacy visit as part of activities under the Strengthening Public Accountability for Results and Knowledge, (SPARK 2) Project implementation in Anambra State.

The Executive Secretary, while lauding the huge investments of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led administration across sectors especially in maternal and child health, expressed readiness to embrace every genuine and friendly effort to assist the government in achieving its lofty goals for the health sector.

* The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah has visited the 2023 All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Presidential Candidate, Prof Peter Umeadi at his Agukwu-Nri residence. Speaking at the event, Senator Ubah informed Prof. Umeadi about his intention to contest the next Anambra State Gubernatorial Election and desire to seek for strategic partnerships that will bring Anambra State to the centre. Senator Ubah also expressed his respect and admiration for the revered former Chief Judge Of Anambra state, stating that he sees him as a role model and father figure who has left indelible footprints with his accompishments. Prof. Umeadi, in his response, commended Senator Ubah for his ambition and wished him well. They also discussed significant ways of rescuing the state from its present position.
