Anambra Ministry Of Justice Organizes Training Session For Law Officers In Awka

Law officers in the Anambra State Ministry of Justice have held the 2024 edition of their annual training session.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that
the Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Sylvia Ifemeje, while declaring the event opened, urged participants to be more committed to their jobs by taking measures that will help them in effective service to the state, just as she urged them to put lessons of the day into practice in order to sharpen their legal skills in advocacy and stand out in legal practice.

Prof. Ifemeje noted that Governor Chukwuma Soludo has made laudable and unparalled landmark achievement by working with the legislature and judiciary in the promulgation of appropriate laws and expeditious dispensation of justice, evident in the Governor signing 11 bills into law recently.

While thanking the Governor for fulfilling his manifesto promise in the justice sector, the Justice Commissioner noted that the Soludo administration has been consistent in its efforts to provide conducive environment for state counsels to discharge their duties effectively, evident in its approval of the renovation of four of Ministry of Justice outstations.

While Justice David Onyefulu of High Court Three Onitsha delivered paper on “Overview of criminal proceedings from the perspective of the prosecution”; Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary-Emeritus in the ministry, Barrister Emmanuel Ike, gave appraisal of cross examination as a weapon in the hands of adversary party in trials in court and tribunals.

Permanent Secretary supervising Ministry of Justice, Barrister Mrs Ndirika Onyekwelu, tasked participants on team work and avoiding insubordination in order to achieve great heights.

Participants at the event, including Senior State Counsels, Ginika Olisa and Ifeoma Nwigwe, said new tips gathered at the training will help them improve in their legal practice, especially in the service of the state.
