* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has said that nature has been so kind to the traditional ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Orizu (3rd) as he is today, the Longest-Serving Oldest Living Monarch in history, after the death of Queen Elizabeth (2nd) of England.
Felicitating Igwe Kenneth Orizu on behalf of the State Legislature as he marks his 99th birthday, in a release signed by Mr Emma Madu, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Udeze described him as the most revered traditional ruler across the globe whose memory, visual organ and physical state are still intact.
The Speaker extolled Igwe Orizu for doing Anambra State proud in many ways, and for his fatherly contributions towards the peace, growth and development of the State as well as the Igbo nation and Nigeria at large.
* The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun has called for collective efforts in provision of the needed safety both in schools and the society at large.
Represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 13 Headquarters Ukpo, Anambra, AIG Godwin Ndidi Aghaulor at the flag-off of stakeholders forum on the security of schools in Anambra state and training of the schools protection squad, the IGP emphasized on commitment from all.
* A bill for a law to establish the Anambra State harbal practice regulatery agency
and other related matters, has been red for the third time and passed into law.
The House passed the bill after considering a report from the Joint House Committee on Health chaird by Hon. Tony Muobike and committee on Judiciary chaired by Hon. Patrick Okafor.
Anambra Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze who presided the sitting commended the lawmakers for their efforts and commitment in making sure that the bill was passed. According to Udeze, the law will take effect from November 13th 2024.
* The Anambra State Government has announced the launch of its maiden Innovation Week, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and technological advancement in the state.
Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation, Chinwe Okoli, made the announcement during a media briefing in Awka, the state capital, Tuesday.
According to Okoli, the week-long event is scheduled to take place from 25-29 November, 2024, promising that it will provide a platform for start-ups, innovators, entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts to showcase their ideas, talents, inventions and innovations.
Okoli, who doubles as the Head of Solution Innovation District (SID), said the event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, pitching competitions, and exhibitions, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions.
* A bill for a law for promotional lotteries, lotto, gaming, casino, online sports betting, suko, raffles, pools, tombola and the likes operation in Anambra State and for other matters connected therewith, has passed through first reading.
The Anambra State gaming bill, 2024 was sponsored by the Majority Leader and member representing Ekwusigo Constituency, Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme.
* Governor Chukwuma Soludo has commended the federal government for the Schools Protection Squad, SPS, initiative through the Nigeria Police Force.
Soludo described the scheme as apt and proactive measure that will ensure safety in schools in the state.
Represented by his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim while intimidating the participants at the event on various achievements of his administration in the education sector, said that adequate security of students and teachers in schools across the state is paramount, and called on teachers, traditional rulers and other community heads to partner security agencies especially the Police, in the area of prompt and adequate information on security issues around their areas for timely action.
* A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Ben Uzuegbu has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo to immediately repeal Anambra State Local Government Administration Law which seeks to have a joint account between the State and the twenty-one Local Government Areas.
The Law seeks control of funds from Local Government to State Government coffers which is against the spirit of the constitution on Local Government autonomy.
However, Uzuegbu who spoke in Onitsha described the purported Law as a nulity as it contravenes the apex court judgment on Local Government autonomy in Nigeria.
The fiery human rights lawyer argued that both Soludo and the State House of Assembly abused the constitutional provisions by enacting a law that contravenes an existing law that has already been interpreted by the Supreme Court.
* A bill for a law to establish the ‘Anambra State Elderly and Senior Citizens Health Care Trust Fund and for connected purposes, was also red for the first time.

Ogbaru one constituency, Hon. Nobel Chukwunonso Igwe.
* The Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District Dr. Tony Nwoye has inspected the recent rehabilitated Federal Road linking the major towns and communities in the area.
Onitsha 33- Nwafor Orizu College – Umueri Road is handled by the Federal Ministry of Works through its agency, Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA).
The road rehabilitation, which was facilitated by Nwoye, was sequel to the intervention of the senator as fulfilment of his promise to His Constituents who brought his attention to the deplorable state of the road on the Blue App, X.
While speaking on the economic importance of the road project, Senator Tony Nwoye said the rehabilitated road project would enhance transportation of agricultural products from farm to markets, and also enhance economic activities in the area. He promised to install Solar Lights along the road.
* The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has described the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof. Bernard Odoh as an astute Public Administrator, Renowned Academic and Technocrat who has all it takes to move the University to the next level of academic excellence.
In his Congratulatory Message to Prof. Odoh on behalf of the State Legislature,
signed by Chief Press Secretary To The Speaker, Mr. Emma Madu, Rt. Hon. Udeze noted that Prof. Odoh’s world view, intellectual prowess, exposure and contacts are some of the qualities that earned him the position, adding that his proficiency in service also contributed to his appointment as the Unizik Vice Chancellor.
The Speaker while urging Prof. Odoh to bring his wealth of experience both in the academia and government to bear in his new appointment, having served as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) of Ebonyi State, enjoined the entire Nnamdi Azikiwe University Community to accord him the necessary support to enable him to record giant strides in his tenure.
