Ministries, Agencies Appear Before Anambra Assembly As Budget Defense Commence

The Chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation Hon. Ejike Okechukwu has described the proposed 2025 budget of ₦607 billion as a progressive blueprint for the state’s development.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that Hon. Okechukwu who is the member representing Anaocha two constituency, in his opening remarks during the budget defense/bialateral discussion with ministries, departments, agencies and other government parastatals on 2025 draft estimates, commended the budget’s emphasis on capital projects, with 77% allocated to capital expenditure and 23% to recurrent expenditure.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Mrs. Chiamaka Nnakee during the defense, said the ministry have tried to optimize their partnership and that ndi Anambra will continue to gain value for their money.

Hon. Nnake commended the lawmakers for working tireless in protecting the interest of ndi Anambra, stating that the budget is realistic and that all hands are on deck in ensuring that the state moves forward.

Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Izunna Okafor while defending his ministries budget alongside Anambra Accountant General, Okoli Chukwudi, maintained that despite the fact that their is an increase, the state government will improve its IGR and with the federal allocation, 2025 budget is achievable.

Commissioner for Industry, Hon. Udechukwu Christian said in 2024, the ministry did more of land acquisition, surveying, and consultation. He informed that 46 hecters of land have been mapped out for the industrial city project.

The Commissioner revealed that the land will be used for pharmacetical parks, financial centers and hytech areas and residential areas amongst other which will make life easy for investors

Auditor General for Anambra State local government, Mrs. Josephine Anyaegbunam during the budget defense, said their is more work to be done next year and that they are prepared to deliver on the mandate by making sure that expenditure are in line with the budget.

Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the Managing Director, Statistical General, Anambra State Mr. Obiora Obiabunmo also appeared before the committee.
