Anambra Assembly committee on power has expressed satisfaction on the on going Mixed-Use Industrial City Ogboji

Anambra State House of Assembly committee on power has expressed satisfaction on the on going mixed use industrial city, Ogboji.

The chairman of the committee, Honourable Golden Iloh who is also representing the people of Ihiala 2 constituency said this during an oversight to the community.

He said ” we came to confirm and be convinced that the project has started and the stage of the project, the installation of 15MVA injection sub station at mixed use industrial city, Ogboji.

“The extension of 33KVA from Oji river to Ogboji. From what we have seen, we are satisfied with the level of work. Since it’s an installation project, some certain things will not be seen physically because you have gone through the process of procuring and acquiring materials needed for the job.

“To some extent, the government of Anambra State has mobilized the contractors well enough compared to the level of work done and the contractors have gone into the project substantially, we are hopeful that they will deliver within the time frame”, the chairman pointed out.

Furthermore, the member representing Orumba South constituency, Honourable Emma Nwafor who is a member of the committee said it’s part of the promise by Mr governor to his consistency which Ogboji is one of them.

Honourable Nwafor confirmed that the project is going on well, noting that the will bring about development in the area when completed and his constituents are impressed with the project.

However he regretted that despite the huge mobilization given to the contractor, the committee is yet to see the maximum part of materials being procured for the job.

Meanwhile, the commissioner for power and water resources, Engineer Chukwuemeka Julius who was present during the oversight said the Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC), Ogboji will boast of 20 to 24hrs of electricity daily to enable industrialists come in and develop the area.

Engr Chukwuemeka noted that the essence of the sub-station is to step down the power from Oji River at the moment and step it up eventually when human population increases in the area.

“We are taking a dedicated line from Oji River, of over 64km from here. Electric Poles have been done, and according to the work programme, by next week, they will start the cable work.

“What they are doing now is the civil work component of it (construction of the house, fencing and landscaping of the place). Geo technical survey has also been done, by next week, they will start drilling and when completed, they will bring in transformer.

“As more people are coming into the Industrial Mixed Use City, that sub station will be scaled up from 15mva to 65 or 130mva as the case may be.”

The contractor handling the project, Engr Ifeanyi Osakwe of Frantorch Nig Ltd said the project will substantially improve the power output of the area and Anambra State at large.

He noted that the 33kva powerline injection will give 80% improvement for the area.

In a related development, the Committee over sighted the Solar Light Installation from Ezeuzu junction Awka to Ifite Road/ Book Foundation, numbering 102 poles by two solar panels at the top. The light is fully functional.

The Committee Chairman, Hon Golden Iloh expressed satisfaction with the deadline and delivery of the job.
