Paris Saint-Germain have signed Spanish forward Ferran Torres from Barcelona on a contract until 2031 after the player said ‘Barcelona needs to show that they love him”.
The French champions confirmed the move on Saturday, with Torres set to wear the number nine shirt.
Torres, who scored the extra-time winner for Spain against Argentina in this summer’s World Cup final, said he was excited about the next chapter of his career.
“I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain,” he said.
“I’d like to thank President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Luis Campos and coach Luis Enrique for giving me the opportunity to join the team, which I hope to help win as many trophies as possible.”
The 26-year-old leaves Barcelona after scoring 65 goals in 207 appearances and winning three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.
He previously played for Valencia and Manchester City before joining the Catalan club in 2022.
PSG described Torres as having etched his name into history by scoring the only goal of the World Cup final and earning the Man of the Match award as Spain claimed their second world title.
