* President Bola Tinubu has pledged to address key developmental challenges confronting Anambra State and the Southeast region.

These include erosion, underutilisation of gas reserves and Anambra’s exclusion from the National Rail Master Plan.

Speaking at a civic reception held at Alex Ekwueme Square during his state visit, President Tinubu assured the people of Anambra of the federal government’s commitment to upgrading road infrastructure and fostering stronger national unity through inclusive development.

Responding to Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s requests, the President acknowledged the persistence of abandoned federal road projects in the region.

He emphasised the strategic importance of completing roads linking Anambra to Kogi State to facilitate easier access to the South-South and Abuja.

* The member representing Oyi/Ayamelum federal constituency, Hon. Gwacham Maureen has called on stakeholders not to give Ayamelum to unproductive opposition political parties in the local government area.

The Federal lawmaker stated this at the All progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) rally held at the council headquarters Anaku, Ayamelum LGA.

According to Gwacham, “Ayamelum is one of the food baskets of Anambra state with lots of fertile agrarian lands, enormous mineral resources including crude oil and natural gas. A land so blessed with human and natural resources must not be ceded to unproductive oppositions whose mantra have always been practical retrogression whereas, it is evident that Solution has come to stay.” She stated.

* The Senator Representing Anambra Central at the red chamber, Chief Victor Umeh has asked President Bola AhTrending News In Anambra, Today May 11, 2025med Tinubu to release and pardon Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Chief Umeh made the call during the visit of the President to Anambra State. The Senator pointed out that Mr. Kanu’s case is similar to that of Omoyele Sowore and Sunday Igboho, who were pardoned and set free by the Nigerian government, and wondered why Nnamdi Kanu is being treated differently.

The federal lawmaker noted that Nnamdi Kanu is not guilty as charged, describing him as a freedom fighter advocating for the well-being of his people.

He added that releasing Nnamdi Kanu would be a genuine step toward demonstrating to the Igbo people that Nigeria is one and united country.

* The Managing Director, Chief Executive Officer of Southeast Development Commission (SEDC), Mr. Mark Okoye has called on youths in the region to have confidence in government and hold their elected representatives responsible.

Okoye made the call during a reception organised for him by youths organisations in Anambra on Friday.

The MD said it had been observed that years of neglect and unmet expectations had created the attitude of indifference among them but regretted that ignorance was also a worrisome factor for their non participation in governance.

Okoye maintained that the Southeast youth must see themselves as bonafide components of Nigerian construct and go for their rights with boldness and full rights of citizenship.

* The House of Representatives Member for the Onitsha North & South Constituency, Hon. Emeka Idu has Commissioned and handed over 12 completed class room blocks attracted by him.

It was jubilation for school children, teachers and Old Boys and Girls at Our Lady’s High School, Woliwo Onitsha, Agai Primary School Fegge and Holy Trinity Primary School Basilica where Hon. Engr Emeka Idu handed over One block six classrooms, One block 3 classrooms and another One block 3 classrooms respectively as Constituency projects attracted by him recently.

Commissioning the classroom blocks, Hon. Idu said although the projects were part of the fulfillment of his campaign promises, emphasized his passion for education which is the bedrock of any society that wants development urging students to be serious with their academics.

* The Coordinator, Rule of Law and Anti-corruption (RoLAC 2) programme in Anambra State, Dr. Josephine Onah, wants the Permanent Secretaries and other accounting officers across government agencies to work towards ensuring successful implementation of the State Anti-Corruption Strategy 2024-2028.

Dr. Onah made the call during a capacity building workshop for permanent secretaries and other oversight officers drawn from various ministries departments and agencies.

According to the Coordinator, the training was designed to build the capacity of the oversight officers to contribute effectively towards the success of the state anti-corruption campaign.

* Anambra State Government has express gratitude to its citizens for the rousing welcome given to the President Bola Tinubu on his historic state visit.

The state visit was executed as planned and yielded several results, which would shortly benefit the state and its citizens.

Commissioner for Information, Anambra State, Dr. Law Mefor, the State government thanked its citizens for their condination.

* Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade has been recognized as the overall best-performing government agency in Anambra State for 2025.

The recognition followed a comprehensive assessment and online voting process conducted by relevant stakeholders across Anambra State and beyond.

OCHA Brigade emerged following the evaluation organized by the World Peace Advocate.

Presenting the award of excellence to the OCHA Brigade at it headquarters in Awka, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pechilly Investigative Limited/World Peace Advocate, Ambassador Karen James, stated that the agency secured the top spot due to its consistent efforts in restoring environmental order and promoting a culture of cleanliness among residents.

Receiving the award on behalf of the agency, the Deputy Managing Director, Comrade Agbafune Anthony Onyekwelu, expressed gratitude to the organizers for recognizing their contributions toward making Anambra cleaner and more livable.

* The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has advised Clerics against flocking around politicians or political office holders to sing their praises because of financial or material benefits saying that it was against Ministerial ethics and biblical principles.

Speaking at Glory Point Assembly, Awada Obosi during the inauguration ceremony of PFN Idemili North Chapter Council Men and Women Executives, the Chairman PFN Anambra State, Bishop Moses Ezedebego discouraged clergymen from going to politicians in the guise to minister to them saying that it degrades the prestigious office of the priest.

Inaugurating the Idemili North Local Executive Council (LEC) he admonished them to embrace the Servant- Leadership style of Jesus Christ as the ultimate model.
