A bill for a law to provide for the establishment of Anambra State Commuters Manifest Scheme and for other releted matters has been passed into law.
Angel Network News (ANN) reports that the bill sponsored by the member representing Ihiala One Constituency, Hon. Jude Ngobili, scaled third reading at plenary at the Anambra State House of Assembly after it was extensively deliberated at the Committee of the Whole.
Hon. Ngobili who is the Chief Whip of the House, in his submission said the bill
aims to enhance transportation efficiency, accountability, and safety measures by implementing a comprehensive manifest system to monitor travel activities in the state.
According to Ngobili, the bill if assented to by the governor will see to the establishment of an agency to manage the database of commuters within the state and provide assistance to victims of road crashes.
The Chief Whip said the bill would serve the interests of commuters, bring order to the transport sector, and boost government revenue.
The Speaker, Rt Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze commended the sponsor of the bill and the lawmakers for making the bill see the of the day.
Rt. Hon. maintained that the law will bring succor to travelers in Anambra State
and will come into force on 17th June 2025.
