Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described Nigeria’s political landscape as rife with betrayals and dishonesty, while reaffirming his faith in his long-time ally, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe.
Speaking at Oghiadomhe’s 70th birthday celebration in Benin City, Edo State, Jonathan remarked that loyalty is rare in Nigerian politics. “It’s difficult to see somebody who will say the same thing in the morning and in the evening,” he said, lamenting that political promises often shift like the wind.
Jonathan, who lost the 2015 election, singled out allegations of mass betrayal during that period. In contrast, he praised Oghiadomhe, noting, “He is somebody that you can take his word to the bank … somebody who would take a bullet on my behalf.”
