The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at Peter Obi over his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s borrowing policy, insisting the loans are “strategic, not reckless.”
APC spokesman Seye Oladejo argued that the borrowings are directed toward critical sectors such as infrastructure, energy, and transportation, stressing that borrowing is a global economic tool used by both developed and developing nations.
He dismissed Obi’s remarks as politically motivated, citing alleged unpaid pensions and dilapidated infrastructure during Obi’s tenure as governor. Oladejo maintained that Tinubu’s fiscal decisions—including subsidy removal, currency reforms, and targeted loans—reflect decisive governance aimed at stabilizing Nigeria’s economy.
