The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State, Commandant Maku Olatunde, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to deepen inter-agency collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service in Anambra State.
Commandant Maku made this known on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 when he received on a familiarization visit Mr. Umerah Timothy Nwanegbo, the Comptroller of Immigration, Anambra State Command at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters, Awka.
The NSCDC State boss emphasized that synergy among security agencies is crucial for effective intelligence sharing, coordination, and rapid response to emerging threats.
Maku promised the Comptroller of Immigration of the Command’s readiness to sustain and strengthen the long-standing cordial relationship between both agencies. He reaffirmed that the NSCDC remains ready to discharge its core mandates, as established by law, and provide necessary support whenever called upon, in the interest of national development and public safety.
“It is my pleasure to receive you and your team today. I am glad you have followed the footsteps of your predecessor by establishing contact with sister security agencies, be assured that I am going to extend the same hands of fellowship in sustaining the tradition of high synergy among agencies ,” he said.
The NSCDC helmsman assured the Nigeria Immigration Service of continued collaboration with stakeholders to ensure Anambra State remains peaceful and conducive for residents and businesses.
He highlighted the NSCDC’ s role in protecting Critical National Assets, disaster management, anti-vandalism, regulating private security guards, crisis management, school safety, mediating between farmers and herders, and intelligence gathering to support internal security.
Commandant Maku said that in view of the Corps’ astounding performance, the President has recently assigned the Corps additional roles, including protecting VIPs across the country.
In his remarks, CIS Nwanegbo Timothy, while emphasizing the importance of inter-agency collaboration, pledged continued cooperation in addressing contemporary security challenges.
The Anambra State Comptroller of Immigration said the visit aimed to strengthen working relationships with sister security agencies, ensuring seamless information sharing among key stakeholders on state security issues.
He noted that since NSCDC and Nigeria Immigration Service are under the same Ministry of Interior, there was need therefore for both agencies to combine resources and expertise to prevent crimes effectively.
“We belong to the same family under the Ministry of Interior, and it is imperative we close ranks and work together for the benefit of citizens” he stated.
