Popular comedian Samuel Animashaun Perry, better known as Broda Shaggy, is recovering in hospital after being shot in the thigh while filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota Bridge in Ogun State according to PUNCH.
The 32-year-old entertainer was rushed by his crew first to Blooming Care Hospital in Alakuko, Lagos, for emergency treatment before being transferred to the specialist Duchess Hospital in Ikeja, where he remains under medical supervision.
Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the incident after the hospital notified authorities: “The hospital reported to the command that a gunshot victim was brought to their facility, and we discovered it was Broda Shaggy when we visited the hospital.”
Detectives and a patrol team were dispatched immediately.
No arrests have been made and the motive remains unclear, with police from Lagos and Ogun states now conducting a joint investigation.
Born in Ikenne, Ogun State, on September 18, 1993, Broda Shaggy studied creative arts at the University of Lagos and rose to fame through deadpan Yoruba-English skits that blend street humour with social commentary.
Friends and fans have flooded social media with messages of support, including calls such as “Speedy recovery to the king of skits” and “Broda Shaggy, the streets miss your laughter already.”
