The Confederation of African Football has announced a 61 percent increase in global viewership for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, describing the tournament as one of the fastest-growing major sporting properties worldwide.
Preliminary figures from independent research agencies also showed a 50 percent rise in international broadcast partners since the 2023 edition and a 35 percent uplift in media rights revenue across South America, Europe and Asia.
CAF highlighted record coverage through new deals in markets including Japan, China, South Korea, Mexico and Greece.
“Preliminary research numbers released by independent research agencies have shown a 61% growth in viewership for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025, making AFCON one of the biggest growing sporting properties globally,” the confederation said in a statement.
Viewer spikes included more than 24 million in Brazil, nearly two million in Mexico, over three million for the final on Britain’s Channel 4, more than four million in Germany and 800,000 in India.
The growth was driven by a partnership with IMG and expanded distribution on platforms such as DAZN, NAVER, Douyin and Claro Sports.
CAF said the 2025 edition was the most widely broadcast AFCON tournament in history, with further commercial gains of 32 percent in European media value and more than 65 percent in overall exposure for brand partners.
