Obi Says He Could Run Nigeria Effectively From Kaduna if Elected

Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has declared he could govern the country from Kaduna State without difficulty if elected in 2027, citing the short travel time to Abuja and insisting leadership effectiveness depends on vision rather than location.

Obi made the remarks on Sunday while meeting African Democratic Congress stakeholders in Kaduna as part of his ongoing nationwide consultations ahead of the polls.

“Abuja to Kaduna is less than two hours; so nothing stops a president from attending meetings here and returning. In fact, I can serve Nigeria from Kaduna without a single problem,” he said.

He also addressed broader national challenges, stating: “A divided society cannot progress, but a united, just, and inclusive one will always find a path to peace and development.”

The visit to Kaduna follows Obi’s recent formal joining of the ADC after leaving the Labour Party. He has similarly engaged leaders in Kano, including former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and members of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

Obi described Kaduna as a former hub of industry, agriculture and commerce, and pledged to restore its glory through disciplined and people-oriented leadership if given the opportunity.
