Nigerian DJ Association Bans Burna Boy Songs After Clash With Wizkid’s DJ

The Nigerian DJ Association has imposed a temporary ban on all Burna Boy tracks, directing members across Nigeria and the diaspora to remove the artist’s music from their playlists.

The situation came to light after a video surfaced online showing a tense moment at the popular Obi’s house. The clip, which has been widely shared across social media, is said to involve Burna Boy, members of his team, and DJ Tunez, who is Wizkid’s official disc jockey. While the exact cause of the confrontation is still unclear, the footage has sparked intense debate among fans.

The association announced the measure on Tuesday in support of DJ Tunez, whose real name is Michael Babatunde Adeyinka, after eyewitness accounts claimed a disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation involving Burna Boy and members of his crew inside a nightclub.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the body emphasised solidarity with its members and condemned any form of discrimination or violence against DJs.

“Burna Boy’s music is temporarily out of any of our DJs’ playlists till further notice,” the association said. “Our team will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident that occurred last night involving one of our own, DJ Tunez.”

It added: “We put all our DJs first, standing firm on ‘ALL DJs are EQUAL,’ and offering a transparent, personal service to help our DJs and clients achieve their goals and ambitions, both at home and in the Diaspora.”

The association urged DJs nationwide to remain vigilant and respectful toward artists while calling for tolerance and equal justice irrespective of background.

“I’ve never seen a fool like this” — Wizkid reacts

Shortly after the video spread, DJ Tunez reacted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, alleging that he was attacked from behind.

“FIRST OFF… YOU HIT ME IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD WITHOUT ME LOOKING! THAT’S SOME SUCKA SHIT MY BOY!” he wrote.

The statement went viral, drawing reactions from fans.

As the conversation gained momentum, another video began circulating online showing Burna Boy dancing with a towel.

Wizkid later weighed in with a post that suggests a direct attack on Burna Boy. In the message shared on his X account, he mocked both the reported incident and the viral towel video, using harsh language that has since drawn mixed reactions.

“Pussy nigga jump a DJ with 10 man carry diddy towel dey dance. I never see fool like this diddy babe for my life,” he wrote.

The post has added another layer to the unfolding drama.

Burna Boy has not responded to either the allegation or Wizkid’s comment as of the time of filing this report.
