Singer and pastor Banky W has paid glowing tribute to his wife, actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington, describing her resilience during their challenging IVF journey as profoundly humbling.
Speaking on the Teju Baby Face Show, Banky W opened up about the emotional and physical toll the couple endured while trying to have children, particularly during attempts to conceive their son Hezekiah.
“In our journey to having children, I’ve seen her endure things that would break people. I’ve seen her when we were trying to have Hezekiah and we were going through IVF cycle after IVF cycle and it wasn’t working and she would get back on her feet and inject herself with whatever they said,” he said.
The experience, he added, has deeply influenced his attitude towards marriage and household responsibilities.
“I’ve seen her put herself through. So is it now that I now say cooking is hard?” Banky W remarked, noting that he now handles cooking regularly without complaint.
He further highlighted Adesua’s sacrifices, including pausing her thriving acting career at certain points to focus on building their family.
“I’ve seen her put her career on pause in some seasons because we were trying to have children. I mean, you know, what more can you ask of a wife and a mother than that?” he said.
Banky W revealed that the difficult seasons, including their wait for children, ultimately strengthened the couple’s faith rather than pulling them apart.
“There’s certain difficult situations that I faced personally or that we faced as a couple that have drawn us even closer to God, like our wait for our children,” he explained.
Adesua, who was present during the interview, was candid about the realities of their marriage.
“Has it been easy every time? No,” she said.
The couple, who have been open about their infertility struggles in the past, welcomed their first son, Zaiah, in 2021 and later had their second son, Hezekiah.
Banky W’s latest comments have drawn attention to the often-hidden emotional burdens many couples face during fertility treatments, while celebrating the strength and partnership that helped them through the ordeal.
