# The Mayor of Nnewi North LGA, Hon. Echezona Anazodo, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening unity and progress within the All Progressives Grand Alliance, during the Anambra South Zonal Stakeholders’ Meeting.
The meeting brought together key political leaders and party members from the seven local government areas in Anambra South Senatorial District to review recent activities and reinforce party structures ahead of forthcoming engagements.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Anazodo commended APGA’s leadership for sustaining its grassroots appeal and called on members to renew their dedication to the party. He pledged to work closely with party executives to deepen APGA’s presence in Nnewi North and ensure it remains the platform of choice for Ndi Anambra.
# People of Ndikelionwu Community in Orumba North LGA have staged a peaceful protest, calling for the urgent intervention of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in the traditional stool crisis in the town, in view of ensuring that the will of the people prevails in the process.

The President-General of the community, Mr. Edozie Obasi, during the protest, tried to present his own selected Eze-elect, Venerable Rex Kanu, members of the community were seen carrying placards with inscriptions such as, “Imposition Is Oppression, Hands Off Ndikelionwu Stool,” “We Did Not Choose Kanu, We Chose Barrister Ekeneme Ike; Certify the People’s Choice,” and “The People of Ndikelionwu Are Not Slaves; Certify Our Chosen Eze, Barrister Ekeneme Ike,” among others.
Speaking to journalists, the Secretary of Umu-Eze-Ikelionwu Royal Family, Prince Chimezie Mbaonu, explained that the royal family, which is in charge of producing the king in the community, on the 15th of March, 2026, during a meeting involving the seven families that make up the royal family, duly chose Barrister Ekeneme Ike as the Eze-elect of Ndikelionwu Community, noting that the communiqué and minutes of the meeting were duly signed by representatives of the seven families, and wondered why the President-General of the town came up with another candidate against the people’s choice.
Contributing, Chief of Obunagu Village, Ndikelionwu Town, Emmanuel Nwene, and Chairman of Izundu Age Grade, Ndikelionwu, Mr. Amaobi Okeke, stated that there is a need for urgent intervention by Governor Soludo, in the matter to avert bloodshed and preventable chaos in the community.
# Frontline aspirant for the Njikoka 2 State Constituency seat, Nnaemeka Oraka, has officially taken a major step in his political journey by obtaining the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form of the All Progressives Grand Alliance at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
This development signals his formal entry into the race for the Anambra State House of Assembly under the APGA platform, reinforcing his commitment to providing purposeful and inclusive representation for the people of Njikoka II Constituency.
Speaking after picking up the form, Oraka reaffirmed his dedication to grassroots development, youth empowerment, and responsive leadership. He emphasized the need for a people-oriented approach to governance, promising to champion policies that will uplift communities across the constituency.

# The Aguata II Youth Forum (ANYF) has reaffirmed the prioritization of competence, capacity, and the proven record of aspirants in youth development and empowerment initiatives, as political parties begin the process of selecting candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The youth leaders and stakeholders from various organisations, communities, and wards within Aguata two Constituency, recently convened a meeting under the auspices of ANYF in Ezinifite.
After much deliberation, the Forum issued a communiqué with respect to justice, equity, fairness, youth inclusion, and the balance of political elective offices.
The Forum reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the principles of justice, equity, fairness, and balance of power in Aguata Local Government Area and the Federal Constituency, noting that adherence to these principles strengthens unity and fosters sustainable development.
Furthermore, the Forum emphasized that beyond zoning considerations, competence, capacity, and impactful leadership must remain the overriding criteria in the selection of candidates for public office. It maintained that leadership positions should not only reflect fairness in distribution but must also be occupied by individuals with proven ability, integrity, vision, and the capacity to deliver meaningful development to the people.

# The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has restructured its leadership in Anambra State, inaugurating a new State Executive Committee (EXCO) after the formal dissolution of its previous leadership in line with constitutional provisions.
At a well-attended congress held in Awka, Hon. David Patrick Chukwudifu was elected as the State Chairman. He is expected to lead the party’s affairs in the State for the next four years.
The newly constituted EXCO, produced through a consensus arrangement, includes Barrister Udeze Arinzechukwu Daniel as State Secretary, Hon. Austin Onyeka as Assistant Secretary, Hon. Samuel Orji as Treasurer, Ahmed Hauwa as Assistant Treasurer, Chioma Okonkwo as Financial Secretary, Udensi Samuel as Organizing Secretary, Barrister Obumse Nwachukwu as Legal Adviser, and Nweke Juliet as Publicity Secretary, among others.
The leadership transition followed a motion for the dissolution of the former EXCO moved by Hon. Celestine Osunkwo. This was immediately followed by a motion for the conduct of a fresh congress, moved by Hon. Prince Chukwuemeka Achufusi, a former Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture in Anaocha LGA, and seconded by Hon. Chinedu Odozor of Onitsha South LGA.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Chukwudifu expressed gratitude for the support he received, describing his emergence as both humbling and divinely inspired.
He stated that the NDC is rapidly positioning itself as a leading political force in Nigeria, driven by growing grassroots support and a people-focused agenda.
# The Ministry of Health, Anambra State has held a 1-Day, first quarter 2026 Expanded State Oversight Committee Meeting on the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF).
The meeting presided by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo discussed the findings of the supervision of not less than 20 Primary Healthcare (PHC) Facilities in the state.
In attendance were the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Secretary (ES/CEO) Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Hospital Administrator, State Hospital Management Board (SHMB), Nigeria Health Insurance Agency (NHIA) State Coordinator, World Health Organization (WHO) and the Nigeria Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), representative in Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Ministry of Finance, Directors and others.
The team shared their findings in respect to infrastructure, security, availability of drugs and equipment, service delivery, attendance and financial management.
# To assess his programmes for the people of Awka North and South Federal Constituency, members of Anambra Patriots have interfaced with the Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, who is aspiring for the seat under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
Speaking at the event in Awka, the Chairman of Anambra Patriots, Chief Damian Enekwechi, said the group is not a conventional support group with one singular agenda and no commitment to a person’s electoral success, but one that stands for good governance and accountability, and supports people it deems fit.
The Convener of Anambra Patriots, Architect Okey Ezeobi, who noted that it is the desire of every onye Anambra to be led by a good leader, said the group is committed to engaging with and supporting people who will be dedicated to the development of the state.
Reeling off his achievements while addressing the gathering, Okoye noted that he ventured into politics in order to positively impact more lives. He noted that representation is about being present and close to the people being represented in order to understand their needs, and challenged other aspirants to a public debate on what they have to offer.
# The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in ongoing investigations following the confession of a notorious suspect arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Unit, Enugwu Ukwu.
The suspect, identified as Favour Izunna, a.k.a. Njoku, aged 22 years, is a member of a dreaded cult group known as the Vikings Confraternity, where he operates as an executioner responsible for terrorising Obosi and its environs.

Anambra State Command, noted that with operational support from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, the operatives recovered one pump-action gun, Five live cartridges, One locally made Beretta pistol and seven rounds of 7.5mm live ammunition
“During interrogations, the suspect further confessed to the gruesome murder of about five persons in Obosi. However, he could only clearly recall three victims identified as: Somtochukwu Alfred (male), Udechukwu Izuchukwu (male), and Izuchukwu Obi (male).
“He also disclosed the involvement of certain sponsors who allegedly contracted him to carry out the killings within the community.
“In addition, the suspect admitted to participating in several kidnapping operations within Anambra State, including victims identified as Emeka Chukwuka (male) and Chinelo Onyeka (female), among others”. Ikenga stated.
