NSA Ribadu Says Tinubu Inherited School Abductions From PDP Era

National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has stated that President Bola Tinubu inherited long-standing security challenges, including the abduction of schoolchildren, from previous administrations led by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Ribadu made the remarks on Monday while leading a high-level federal delegation to communities in Oyo State affected by the May 15 abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

“Mr President is doing wonderful, strong things that will help us overcome these challenges. Most of these things we inherited them. It is not today. These evil people have been with us for two decades or more,” Ribadu said.

He assured residents and the nation that the government remains committed to defeating bandits and terrorists.

“We will defeat evil. We will never allow them. They are on their way out, I can assure you,” he added.

The delegation, which included Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu and Defence Minister Christopher Musa, visited affected families to convey President Tinubu’s concern and commitment to securing the release of those still in captivity.

The latest incident involved the abduction of dozens of schoolchildren and staff, with one teacher reportedly killed. President Tinubu has since approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards and the deployment of a specialised rescue team in the state.
