Popular Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has revealed she lost ₦5 million on her first-ever football bet after wagering on the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
Etiko shared her disappointment on Instagram shortly after Spain’s victory, describing the experience as both financially and emotionally draining.
“First time betting and I lost. Will never try it again. My N5 million is gone. In fact, I’m done watching football. Anxiety almost killed me,” she wrote, accompanied by crying and heartbreak emojis.
The actress vowed never to gamble on football again, joking that she was finished with the sport. Her post drew mixed reactions from fans, with many sympathising while others teased her over the unsuccessful prediction.
The World Cup final generated significant betting interest worldwide, including among first-time participants like Etiko. Spain’s triumph ended Argentina’s title defence in a dramatic encounter.
