Commissioner ‘Agha Mba’ Receives ASTUC Youth Ladies Outstanding Leadership Award

Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Mr Patrick Agha Mba, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment, describing recognition as a call to greater responsibility and service.

Agha Mba made the commitment while receiving the Anambra State Town Unions Council (ASTUC) Youth Ladies Outstanding Leadership and Youth Development Champion Award in Awka.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to the organisation for recognising his contributions to youth development, saying the honour would further strengthen his resolve to deliver on the mandate entrusted to the ministry by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

According to Agha Mba, the administration remains deliberate in its focus on young people through investments in skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, youth engagement, sports and opportunities for self reliance.

Honourable Agha Mba commended ASTUC Youth, the youth wing of the Anambra State Town Unions Council, for its partnership with the ministry, particularly through its volunteers, supervisors and grassroots mobilisers involved in programmes such as the Close the Gap Initiative and 1Youth2Skills Plus.

He recalled his association with the pioneer ASTUC Youth President, Sir Ossy Ozalagba, under whom he served as Pioneer First Vice President when the Youth Ladies Wing was established.

The commissioner described the participation of young women in youth development as indispensable, urging the ASTUC Youth Ladies to continue to organise, mobilise and provide leadership in their communities.

Agha Mba assured that the ministry would continue to collaborate with ASTUC Youth to strengthen youth engagement across Anambra’s 179 communities and promote skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, sports and participation in governance.

He dedicated the recognition to collective service, saying, “The award may carry my name, but the work belongs to all of us.”

The commissioner appreciated the ASTUC leadership for the honour and congratulated the other award recipients.
