Anambra Speaker Felicitates Muslims On Eid-El-Maulud, Calls For Inter-religious Relations

The Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze has enjoined religious bodies in the country to coexist peacefully despite their religious differences, which he said, are not strong enough to divide them since all religious groups believe in God as the creator of heaven and earth and everything therein.

Felicitating Muslims as they celebrate this year’s Eid-El-Maulud, in a press release, Rt. Hon. Udeze reminded them that the peace, unity and development of the country supercede religious affinity, inclinations and interests, adding that without a conducive socio-political and economic environment, different religions in the country will find it difficult to thrive.

The Speaker who called on Muslims to use the occasion of the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Mohammed to renew their spirit of love, almsgiving, religious tolerance and great commission to corporate living, charged them to uphold those things that will promote Interreligious tolerance in the country.

Rt. Hon. Udeze commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for accommodating the Muslim Community in the State, especially for creating an enabling environment for them to operate and even earn their living, while urging them to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture by remaining peaceful and supportive of the government at all times.

He prayed Muslim Leaders to preach oneness and brotherhood to their members for the peace and progress of the country.
