The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, Commandant Maku Olatunde Adekunle, on Wednesday, 26th August 2026, convened a strategic tactical digest session with all Operational Commanders of the Command at the State Command Headquarters, Awka, Anambra State.
The operational review, which brought together Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Tactical Commanders, Composite Commanders, and Heads of Departments and Units, was convened to evaluate the security situation in the State and reposition the Command for more effective service delivery.
Commandant Maku expressed appreciation to the Operational Commanders for their dedication, professionalism, and outstanding performance in discharging their lawful duties. He specifically commended personnel for the sustained efforts being made in the fight against vandalism, illegal dealings in petroleum products, illegal mining, and the prevention of quackery in private guard companies across the State.
He also acknowledged the prompt response to distress calls and emergencies in disaster management, and further noted that improved community engagement and public trust-building initiatives have strengthened the relationship between the Corps and the public.
The NSCDC State helmsman noted that the relative peace and stability currently enjoyed in the State are direct results of the teamwork and commitment of the Commanders and their personnel.
After receiving detailed operational briefs from all formations, the State Commandant charged them thus: _”Let us do our job the way we are supposed to do it. Buckle up and do your job; that is what brought all of us here! The masses are expecting us to perform optimally and that is why we are here to examine our strategies and proffer solutions for improvement.”_
He directed all Commanders to intensify targeted operations to checkmate criminal elements and prevent any breakdown of law and order. They are to ensure round-the-clock visibility patrols, conduct aggressive intelligence-led reconnaissance operations, and maintain surveillance on identified black spots to deter crime and protect Critical National, State and Local Government Assets and Infrastructure within their areas of responsibility.
The State Commandant further charged them to strengthen intelligence gathering through robust community partnerships and credible informants to enable swift and decisive action. He also emphasized the need to deepen collaboration with sister security agencies for a coordinated approach to security management in Anambra State ahead of Local Government Elections slated for Saturday 29th of August 2026.
On supervision, and in line with the directive of the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, all Commanders are to adopt the policy of “No Vandalism to Critical National Assets.”
They are to personally supervise their officers in the field, provide on-the-spot guidance, and ensure discipline, professionalism and prompt response to security challenges.
Commandant Maku charged all Commanders to provide effective leadership and close supervision to their personnel. He emphasized the need for officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, respect for human rights, and adherence to the rule of law.
He issued a stern warning against corruption, extortion, abuse of office, and any conduct capable of eroding public confidence in the Corps. He reiterated that any officer found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary and legal actions in accordance with the Rules of Engagement, Standard Operating Procedures and Service Orders.
