PSG Edge Man City 4-2 in Champions League Thriller

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Manchester City 4-2 in a high-scoring UEFA Champions League league-stage match at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.

The European champions raced into a 3-0 half-time lead with goals from Désiré Doué in the 13th minute, Ousmane Dembélé two minutes later and Vitinha in the 32nd minute. It was the first time an away side had scored three first-half goals at the Etihad in the competition.

Erling Haaland reduced the deficit with a header in the 53rd minute. Maghnes Akliouche restored PSG’s three-goal advantage in the 62nd minute with a long-range strike that beat City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Haaland scored again in the 75th minute to make it 2-4.

City continued to press and were awarded a late penalty, but Ferran Torres’ effort was saved by Donnarumma. The hosts had more shots overall but could not complete the comeback.

The result maintained PSG’s strong start in the league phase while City suffered their first Champions League defeat of the campaign in an entertaining contest.
